There was an incident when Hero is out at a market with Patrick and Simon and two men attempt to abduct Patrick who appears to be Sebastian’s son. Hero goes through extraordinary efforts to rescue him. Your thoughts about this scene?

This was one of my favorite scenes in the story. I was so nervous through that entire scene. I was afraid that something was going to happen to Patrick. It shows how close Hero is with Patrick. She could have resented Sebastian bringing Patrick into their home but she doesn't. In fact, Hero treats him like a son, and we see that Patrick looks at her as a mother.

I sent a note to Harris about this scene and how well done it is.

Moments like these are why I love Hero. She is very aptly named!

I included this question because I thought we’d all feel the same.

I was terrified in the moment and was so proud of Hero. This woman is a force, managing to take out two men and rescue Patrick. It’s now clear she sees Patrick as her son and he sees her as his mother. It was a powerful, moving scene.

Phrynne, very definitely aptly named.

I agree Phynne. When Hero was first introduced in the series, I thought it was a strange name to give to a female character, but she lives up to her name in every book.

Patrick is Jamie Knox's son. They suspect Jamie was a half-brother to Sebastian. His mother gave the boy to Sebastian when she went to America with her new husband.

I was terrified during this scene. So much could have happened, but Hero was determined to save Patrick and I admire her for that determination.
