Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments June's Group Buddy Read is Lost in Darkness by Michelle Griep!

GR Summary:
Enchanting Regency-Era Gothic Romance Intertwined with Inspiration from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein

Travel writer Amelia Balfour’s dream of touring Egypt is halted when she receives news of a revolutionary new surgery for her grotesquely disfigured brother. This could change everything, and it does. . .in the worst possible way.

Surgeon Graham Lambert has suspicions about the doctor he’s gone into practice with, but he can’t stop him from operating on Amelia’s brother. Will he be too late to prevent the man’s death? Or to reveal his true feelings for Amelia before she sails to Cairo?

I plan to join in. I have it on my Kindle.

Sharon Loves to Read I have an ARC book to read and review, but I hope to join in. Sounds interesting!

Georgann I have it from the library, so I'll join in!

Missy | 938 comments Finished this yesterday. It was a good read, some places were rather long, but I enjoyed the story. The bond between Amelia and Colin was strong, despite their age gap and the distance in the past 7 years. I enjoyed the building of Amelia and Graham's relationship and was happy for them in the end. It was an interesting take on Frankenstein, now it peeks my interest as I have never read it before.

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments I'm glad you ladies are joining in. I finished it earlier this week, I did end up enjoying it although it wasn't quite my usual reading fare. Interesting how she incorporated the Frankenstein aspect. I have more thoughts I'll share mid-month.

Georgann Read this in two sittings! As I say in my review, you know that things are not going to go well for Colin from the book's blurb, so that hangs heavy over the whole book, while you grow to adore poor, doomed Colin. I did feel frustrated with both our MC's, neither of whom would trust their gut or their inner voice about "Dr Frankenstein." The romance wasn't too sappy, but I did have to skim through some of it, so guilt-ridden as to be impossible. But, those two things aside, I enjoyed the book to 4 stars!
