T.T. Linse (ttlinse) | 57 comments Fabulous new series, Beforeigners, if people are looking for suggestions. The title is a portmanteau of before and foreigners. It's Norwegian, set in Oslo. It's about the conflict between people who live in a country and recent immigrants, only the immigrants are time travelers who come from cave man, viking, or victorian times. The two main characters are detectives - one a presentday guy who has a drug problem and the other a beforeigner woman who was a viking - investigating the murder of a beforeigner woman. I can't recommend it enough! https://www.hbomax.com/series/urn:hbo...

It's not new. It's been out for 3 years.

I have seen the first 2 seasons and agree it is worth watching.

Pat Powers | 40 comments Oh, I'm gonna be telling the wife about this one. Sounds like it might be fun, if it doesn't move at a snail's pace like a lot of Euro stuff. I'm also worried about the detective having a drug problem: sounds like the usual Euro thing of having the detective MC be a miserable wreck. I hope it's not.

Sorry. New to me. :-) And I was really surprised I hadn't heard about it before.

This show continues to surprise. It doesn't go for the pat easy expected thing. He's not a miserable wreck, but it does start to interfere with work. He's actually more perceptive and empathetic than a lot of his coworkers. I hope you both like it!

Nils Krebber | 208 comments It's a great series, even though the second season does make some strange detours and introduces (view spoiler), which I did not care for.
The social dilemmas are really interesting, like being inclusive of all religions, even the stone age ones :) That is quite a challenge, especially when you are confronted with people that have lived through the brutal christianisation of the country and are very confused by the current peaceful church.
