Pandora’s lady’s maid, Ida, takes a lot of liberties when dealing with her. Was she too outspoken or rather well suited for Pandora? Why was it so important to Ida that Pandora become engaged to Gabriel?

I thought she was perfect for Pandora. Pandora was always planning and would forget what her family or Lady Berwick thought was important. Ida was more a social manager as well as her lady's maid.

Ida knew that marriage is what women in Pandora's class did. Besides it would be an advancement for Ida to go with her to Gabriel's home.

I thought Ida was a bit much. She was a bit overbearing and definitely on the bossy side. But, Pandora needed that guidance and reminders that there were certain rules she had to follow.

I thought she was a bit much, too, but Pandora seemed to need that kind of bluntness. She didn’t take it personally and Ida was a lot like Pandora with her directness. Oh, yes, Ida wanted Pandora to snag Gabriel because her lot would be improved! There is a hierarchy in the servants quarters and she'd be the lady’s maid to a woman who’s husband is in line to be a duke. Ida’s no fool.

Pandora needed someone to steer her in the right direction. She sometimes seemed aimless, living in her head and thinking about board games. She needed Ida to give her a reality check.

I also thought she was too much but do agree that Pandora needed some managing. I thought she could have gotten the job done without being so disrespectful.

I ever thought she was disrespectful. To me, it seemed like they had an unconventional relationship. Pandora was always an unconventional girl.
