Great African Reads discussion

Our next nonfiction subject will be a history book focusing on one specific country or region.

Please suggest book ideas below! If you don't know of a book but want to learn about a country, I am sure if you ask here someone will have a few suggestions..

"Second" the books that pique your interest-- if we get more than a handful of suggestions, then only the "seconded" ideas will make it to the poll. We'll vote on a book the first week of July.

I second Formation: The Making of Nigeria From Jihad to Amalgamation. I like the fact that it is published by Cassava Republic!
I do not know if the following title is any good, but if so, I would like to nominate Another America: The Story of Liberia and the Former Slaves Who Ruled It.
