ANGELFALL Re-read

That's awesome! :)
We're so excited to re-read the series as well. We remember reading it and just absolutely falling in love with the world and devouring it in the space of a day. This time we'll be taking it a little slower. ;)

I have frankly given up trying to get my friends to read Angelfall, there's no hope for them. I don't know how they can resist something so unique and wonderful!

I know right! :D She was so nice and friendly. She also recommended me to buy Shadow and Bone and I was like ''Hah! Already bought that one yesterday at the Waterstones in Windsor!''

'Ironically, since the attacks, the sunsets have been glorious. Outside our condo window, the sky flames like a bruised mango in vivid orange, red, and purple. The clouds ignite with sunset colour, and I'm almost scared those of us caught below will catch on fire too'
How beautiful is this first paragraph?! It completely takes you into Susan Ee's amazing world.
Which lines had you hooked at the beginning of Angelfall?

Exactly what an apocalyptic book should sound like!

I read it in 24 hours and I have been lost in the world of Penryn ever since.

Ileana wrote: "“The day belongs to the refugees and raid gangs. But at night, they all clear out, leaving the streets deserted by dusk. There’s a strong fear of the supernatural now. Both mortal predators and pre..."
It totally takes you into the world. Amazing!
So, important question: what did we all think when we first met Raffe?
Reading it a second time and knowing what develops between him and Penryn – does the scene seem different to you now?

I think my first feelings for Raffe were why did the other angels cut his wings? Was he different from the other angels? I liked how he was amused by Penryn so he wasn't truly her enemy. I liked him.
I just started reading Angelfall for the second time and I haven't seem anything different yet. But I am looking.

I discovered Angelfall through Sam (realmoffiction). She was of the best and most popular reviewers here on Goodreads and I actually discovered 80% of my favorite books through her reviews. Unfortunately, for some unknown reasons she deactivated her account. :/
Which lines had you hooked at the beginning of Angelfall?
“Something white floats gently down and lands on Paige. She picks it up and turns to show me. All the blood drains from her face and her eyes are enormous.
It’s a fluffy piece of down. A snowy feather. The kind that might work its way out of a goose down comforter, only a little larger.
The blood drains out of my face too.”
Love it. Best series ever.

I don't know. I just sat there and laughed hysterically for 2 minutes. From then on, I was pretty much in love with Penryn!

That moment where Raffe and Penryn were trying to kill each other in the office, we all knew right then they were ULTIMATE OTP!!

"Here, I’ll show you how to use it. Let me see your foot.”
“That’s a pretty intimate demand in the angel world. It usually takes dinner, some wine, and sparkling conversation for me to give up my feet.”
Love it! Raffryn seriously SERIOUSLY roxxxxxxx!!

The other book was more flowery and dreamy, this one was more action-packed and video-game like.

I don't blame you. It's a really addicting series! I love Susan's writing! Who doesn't? Not liking it is impossible.

I actually read the series twice! And I was just about to start again, In preparation for the new book, which I thought was coming way later this year, an happy surprise to see this today! I was instantly awake!
And with my books by mi side! What can I say, this it's the best series I had ever read! Plus those covers are just so Kawaii! And mysterious... Like Rafe... (devil face ahahaha)
I think it's because Susan actually takes the time to writhe a beautiful fully developed story, I had come across so many series that start wonderful and then decline miserably, just because of the money!
I thank Susan for that, even if I must wait a year or more between the books, I hope she never change.
Thanks for the Re-red group! Xx

I'm already at World After but I think I'll be re-reading Angelfall too! After all it's so good :D

So then when we finally got to the campus where our competition was and got settled in our dorms, I connected to Wifi, bought World After, and devoured it almost as fast as Angelfall. My friends barely managed to drag me outside to wander around campus and play some games with our teammates. XD
So yeah, that's how I found Angelfall and my story of reading it!!!

That's awesome I love that story I think everyone can relate!

I'm not very good with reading the last book at the end of a series I like 'cause i hate to have it all end but that's what re-reads are for, right?
Quote that hooked me?
<<"I pull on my favorite boots. They used to be my favorites because I got a compliment from Mist Johnson about the look of the leather strips laddering down the sides...Now they're my favorites because the strips make for a perfect knife holder.">>

As for favorite quote, that's a hard one! There were so many zingers that I'm not sure I could pick just one. I love it when characters are smart and spunky with a little bit of edge. The dialogue between Pen and Raffe is so amazing. I almost think I could live off listening to the give and take they have in conversations.

I absolutely loved everything about Angelfall; characters, plot, twists! I still haven't read the second book yet but I can always catch-up before End of Days comes out :p

It really is – we fell for him immediately! Did anyone else? Or did you think he was a bit suspicious?

Just like you) Immediately! At the moment he shut her up with “Can you keep it down? I’m trying to sleep.”

I think I liked him the moment he broke the window for Penryn, protected her from the glass and told her to run but i think i wet all gooey when they were in the guest house.
They both had vulnerable moments in there--Raffe with his blistered feet that he let Penryn help him with , and Penryn's nightmare that Raffe held her thru. (You can always have a badass sexy hero but it's when they share their vulnerabilities earnestly that makes them perfectly real.)
When he tells her yes at the end of that chapter I was set. There was nothing that could make him dislike him or them together EVER!!!!!!!

Here are my reviews of Angelfall and World After:

I liked him with the "keep it down" quip but I didn't fall until later. I wanted to attempt to figure out his motives first. Was he just using Pen to get revenge? Does he feel the need to protect her because she saved him and he owes her? Is it because he's an archangel (and the archangel of healing, at that!) that he feels the pull to do right by her? Or does he genuinely start to have a soft spot where she's concerned? He's still such a mystery (Like why is he holding back with Penryn? What will happen to them if he gives in?). But I don't doubt his intentions anymore. He won me over!
Over the next few months we’ll be working our way through the series, re-visiting all of Penryn's most kick ass moments, remembering all the times Raffe made us swoon and, of course, sharing our excitement for End of Days!
Susan Ee herself will be joining us for Q&A sessions along the way – watch this space for more details.
Newcomers are also more than welcome, so remember to include spoiler alerts!
Can you remember how you discovered Angelfall? Was it a recommendation from a friend, or a chance discovery in a bookshop?
