Daphne Bridgerton is the fourth of eight children and the first girl. She wants to get married and have children but all the acceptable men she knows think of her as a good friend. Enter Simon Bassett a new duke who definitely doesn't want to get married. Simon and Daphne decide to fake a courtship so meddling moms will leave Simon alone and other men will suddenly realize Daphne is attractive.
I've never seen the netflix show, I don't even have netflix, but the hype over the show did put this book on my radar. There are a few questionable scenes but overall the book was a light and enjoyable read. I also really like Lady Whistledown's gossip columns and am looking forward to a future reveal of who is writing the columns. I do now want to read the other seven books in the series to find out what happens with the other seven kids.
