Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 565 comments All signed up! TBR TBD! I do like to try and focus on ARCs (current and backlog!) for ARC August. I do know Sadie by Courtney Summers will be my first book.

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 565 comments Well, Sadie will not be my first book! lol. A bunch of Overdrive holds came in and these are the last copies because my library did not buy more so I am listening to Lost and Found in Paris by Lian Dolan and reading The Castle School (for Troubled Girls) by Alyssa B. Sheinmel !

Not sure how much reading I will get done because I'm writing too.

I'll be finishing Other Fires by Lenore H. Gay and The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner
Starting this tome (I know I definitely will not finish before the series starts, but at least I'll be reading it) Fire & Blood (A Targaryen History, #1) by George R.R. Martin
For my Goodreads book club The River of No Return by Bee Ridgway
and working on this for my 1000 Books Project The Gormenghast Trilogy Titus Groan/Gormenghast/Titus Alone by Mervyn Peake

There will be others I'm sure (I hope) and various writing books as well.

message 20: by Tawallah (last edited Aug 14, 2022 09:05AM) (new)

Tawallah Read so far
The Warrior by Stephen Aryan - good novel but felt rushed in certain aspects. Overall the duology was a good read
The Android's Dream by John Scalzi - the usual Scalzi which is definitely full of current events
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng - the hype for this is accurate; so good
A Fatal Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum Murder in Ancient Rome by Emma Southon - weird to have f-bombs in this but the exploration of murder in Roman Empire was good
Artemis by Andy Weir - not as bad as reviews made me expect. Jazz is unlikeable and yes welding is discussed quite a bit, but the geek in me loved the Easter eggs about lunar landings
A Beautiful Blue Death by Charles Finch - average historical mystery
The Night Tiger by Yangsze Choo - I loved this book, the characters, the magic realism was so well executed

Current read:
False Value (Rivers of London, #8) by Ben Aaronovitch

Let's keep it up! You guys are doing great. Mid-event post will be up tomorrow.

I finished The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner on audio and Other Fires by Lenore H. Gay . Still working on the others I mentioned in my earlier post.

Be watching the blog this week for a save the date post. Something Wicked Fall starts at Castle Macabre September 1st which will encompass FrightFall in October. I have a read-along planned. I've been sneaking around your Goodreads lists and have seen this one on a lot of your want-to-read lists. 👿 👻💀

Diana | 54 comments I'm not sure if I haven't been in the mood to sit and read (I've been doing pretty well with audiobooks while working on things) or if I'm just procrastinating because the books I want to read are really long; despite repeatedly reminding myself to pick shorter one.
I also don't know why I'm on such a nonfiction kick lately.

Books finished: Smart Pop Explains Marvel Movies and TV Shows by The Editors of Smart Pop Smart Pop Explains Harry Potter Books and Movies by The Editors of Smart Pop

Audiobooks: Jane Against the World Roe v. Wade and the Fight for Reproductive Rights by Karen Blumenthal Elvis and Me The True Story of the Love Between Priscilla Presley and the King of Rock N' Roll by Priscilla Presley

Books finished with a lot of skipping: Shadowshaper (Shadowshaper Cypher #1) by Daniel José Older Dear Theo by Vincent van Gogh

Currently reading: Skirts Fashioning Modern Femininity in the Twentieth Century by Kimberly Chrisman-Campbell Because I Was A Girl True Stories for Girls of All Ages by Melissa de la Cruz
