Elaborate arrangements are made to take Ethan to Eversby Prior for his safety and recuperation. The Ravenels meet the challenge and Ethan learns a lot about the family he’s tried to reject. Why do you believe they so readily accept him? What did you find to be most remarkable about what happened during this time?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments They all knew their father, Edmund, was an SOB and that Ethan had no part in how he was treated by him. They all had suffered at his hands. I found it remarkable that everyone rallied around Ethan, accepted him, kept him safe and help him heal.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I agree, Anita. Devon and West both knew how Edmund had treated his children. They also knew he knew about Ethan and rejected him. I think they are trying to make up for the things that Edmund did.

I’m with both of you. The earlier generation of Ravenel men (Edmund and Devon & West’s father) left a lot to be desired and their children suffered as a consequence. That shared experience bonds their offspring. They embraced Ethan and he later them when he learned that he’d probably had a better childhood than they did!

I loved this part of the book as these children and their spouses are creating a new family. West really stepped up here, too. He’s a different man now.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments Great point about West. He is truly a different man than the one we were first introduced to.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I agree with all of you. I love West from the first time we meet him. I looking forward to his book.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments I agree with all of you also. I loved West right from the beginning and his character just keeps getting better. I can't wait until I can get to his book too.
