Garrett & Ethan…what worked/didn’t work about their romance? Did the story strike the right balance between the romance and intrigue?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I loved them as a couple. They both smart people, and they were well matched. It had a really good balance between romance and intrigue.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I liked both of these characters. They had great chemistry and seemed to care for each other. I didn't like the "I'm leaving you for your own good" part of the story. Thankfully that didn't last long.

I admit I was a little bored with the suspense portion of the story. But the story got interesting when Ethan was shot and fell into the river. I wasn't sure how he was going to get out of that one.

It helps when you really like both characters but their dynamic as a couple was equally appealing. I liked that they didn’t try to hide their attraction or play games with each other. Ethan’s attempt to stay away was based on him trying to shield her from danger and he was right but too late.

I thought the balance was about right. The intrigue was interesting but a little confusing until it escalated. Like Robin, I got more engaged after Ethan got shot, maybe a little before when he and Garrett stole those papers.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments I really loved this couple. They both had really full lives but I loved how there was no back and forth regarding their attraction to each other. I agree. After he got shot, I could hardly put this book down.
