As for me, I think it's time I delve into The Final Girl Support Group, which I've been saving for a rainy day.

I've read Apples Never Fall and The Maid, but I was underwhelmed by both of them sadly. Currently I'm reading Razorblade Tears and it's great so far!

For me there have been some Liane Moriarty that I LOVED, and others that just fell completely flat. I haven't attempted Apples, but I wasn't intrigued by the premise, so skipped it... anything she writes will automatically become a bestseller and get optioned for TV, so I don't feel too badly about offering a little criticism!

Has anyone else read The Maid? I feel like this one is on a lot of TBR lists and got a lot of buzz!

Yes! I loved Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers, and the TV adaptations of her books are always amazing!

I read The Maid earlier this year and was underwhelmed by it too. I was super interested in the concept and the hype but I didn’t really enjoy the tone of the book as it was almost farcical. Especially with how some characters were portrayed. I had hoped there’d be a bit more depth of them that never came.

Good morning. I finished "The Vanishing Tide" this morning. I would recommend it. I am beginning "56 days."

Perfect timing because I just finished Karen McManus's newest book (to be released at the end of August) Nothing More to Tell. She's the queen of mysteries for teens and they're hot books in our libraries. This one will be no different since there's a dead teacher from years ago and the case is still unsolved. Was he really a good guy? And then I'm rolling in to the second book by Jesse Q. Sutanto after staying up way too late to finish The Obsession which was seriously screwed up. This second one is called The New Girl. I'll let you know how this one is when I'm done.

I read The Maid and really liked it.

Sort of a mystery, but I really liked Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak. Also, on the creepy side, I recently finished A Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay. That was the first book in a long time to scare me. I found it really creepy.

Finished Arsenic and Adobo, which was a lot of fun. And it hits both the Mystery theme and the Book Club picks theme from an earlier week because the APL Mystery Book Group is discussing this as their August book.

I really want to try the ginger spiced banana bread recipe in the back! I must copy it and wait for cooler weather to return.

Over the weekend I finished an advance copy of a poetry/mixed media chapbook, peeling the yellow wallpaper. Really vivid and strange.

For Week 5, I read “When we cease to understand the world” by Benjamín Labatut. This book offers several fictional case studies of famous real life scientist and mathematicians, wrapped around their real world discoveries. I highly recommend this unusual narrative, that’s both disturbing but fascinating to learn from.

Yesterday, I tore through the loveliest middle grade story Josephine Against the Sea which includes a mystery. After her mother's death her father has dated a little but she's always managed to scare off the potential women until Mariss shows up and there's just something off about her. It's set in the Caribbean and the folklore surrounding her otherworldliness is what Josephine wants to prove and pull her father away from her grasp because she seems to have magical abilities. It was sassy and smart.

All comments have been recorded up until this point for the challenge!

Side note: I am jealous of how fast you guys can read! I am lucky if I can finish a book in two weeks :-p

I'm so glad people are enjoying Arsenic and Adobo! I can't wait to read the sequel(s), but I'm still on hold!!!

And while I'm speaking of sequels, for those of you in Crafty Lovers book club, Husband Material was released today!

I have finished "56 Days" and I must say that I really did like it.

I finish The Guncle and The Mother-in-Law by Sally Hepworth last week!

I finished “A Thousand Moons” by Sebastian Barry. And “You Grow Gurl”.

I enjoyed the Maid and Death on the Nile earlier this year.

I’m really due for a mystery but just started “Caste”. I’m sure I will find one this week that I wanted to read.

All titles have been recorded up until this point!

For this week, I read The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J Maas. It wasn’t my favorite book in the series so far, but it does provide helpful background for the other books
