If you haven't shared how July went in the July thread I'd love to hear how it went here- also here is my tentative TBR for this month:
1.Heartless
2.The Witches of Moonshyne Manor
3.The Confidence of Wildflowers
4.An Arrow to the Moon or Our Crooked Hearts
5.What Moves the Dead
6.Queen of Air and Darkness
As always this list could change- if I read something for the magical readathon that also works here than I will swap it out, although it seems fitting that the book I'm using to complete the punishment prompt is the book that earned me the punishment prompt to begin with!

This month was somewhat successful-
I got over 100 pages into The Witches of Moonshyne Manor to complete the blue book prompt. I'm nearly finished with it now so I'm counting it as a win.
I finished The Confidence of Wildflowers & What Moves the Dead.
I swapped out Queen of Air and Darkness with Husband Material to complete the prompt for next in a series with queer rep.
I didn't get to prompt 1 or 4. Theres always next month!

I suspect some of you will need a re-roll this month due to the specificity of some of this month's prompts so I have been proactive and gone ahead and done an extra turn ahead of time that you can partially or completely replace a problem prompt with. if you need only a card or only a roll use that portion of the new prompt to replace that portion of the old or just switch it out completely if you need to. Im sure that wasn't necessary to explain but just in case lol. I'll post the replacement prompt at the bottom. Also, I think it may be judicious to note that whenever I pull a new card for re-rolls I put that card back in the deck so we can all have a chance at that prompt before the end of the year. I wouldn't want to have a cool prompt out of commission for the year after only being on offer to one or two of us.. so you may see some of them pop up again later on.. so only use the replacement prompt if you need to that way we are limiting the amount of duplicates we will end up having if that makes sense.. if not dont worry about it because its not THAT important.
Prompts:
Turn #1
Card: Morally grey characters or a villains POV.
Roll: Hardcover.
explanation: Choose a hardcover book that has a morally grey character or villains POV. Meaning this character has to be a main character that we are actually reading the POV of- side characters won't work for this one. I think it'll be easier than you think to find a book to fit this prompt since morally grey can fit a broad range of characteristics.
Turn #2
Card: Read a blue book.
Roll: Freebie!
explanation: Any book with a blue cover- easy enough!
Turn #3
Card: Flowers on the cover or in the title.
Roll: An Indie book.
explanation: An indie book is any book self-published by the author or published by an independent publishing house. An independent publishing house is any publisher except any of the big five or one of their many imprints. If you aren't sure whether a book counts for this please feel free to ask me and I can definitely help you with this!
Turn #4
Card: Read a book with sprayed edges.
Roll: Odd page number.
explanation: Read a book that has sprayed edges and an odd page number. Since I know not everyone has books on their shelves with sprayed edges I will accept any book you own as long as an edition with sprayed edges does exist. Once again, if you aren't sure I am more than happy to help you with this. I'm a big fan of special editions so I keep my eye on that corner of the book community.
Turn #5
Card: Read a book under 300 pages.
Roll: Roll again.
explanation: Well we landed on roll again which means the only thing you need to do to fulfill this particular prompt is find any book on your shelves under 300 pages. Unfortunately, that also means an extra turn. Ah well. It's all in the name of fun!
Turn #6 (roll again)
Card: Read a book with LGBTQIA+ representation.
Roll: next in a series.
explanation: any book that you need to read in order to continue on in a series you've started as long as there is some type of queer rep in the book. That can be a side character as well.
Turn #7 (punishment)
Card: A book you know nothing about.
Roll: Tote or BOTM.
explanation: Ok so this is a very specific-to-me secondary prompt so I am going to tweak this one to mean a book you know nothing about that you've had for a very, very long time and still haven't read. This can be a book you bought based on the cover, a recommendation, or one you once knew what it was about but have forgotten due to the length of time its been on your shelf.
Replacement Prompt
Card: Friend picks your next read.
Roll: Contemporary.
explanation: have a friend choose one of your contemporary books for you to read this month. that can mean a romance, mystery, thriller, literary fiction- any of these will fit as long as the book is set in recent years.
Ok everyone- I know this was a lengthy and somewhat confusing round but remember not to let any of it stress you and if you need more than one replacement prompt let me know but dont forget to read the explanation portion because I have offered alternatives/tweaks to make the prompt more accessible to more of you.
Don't forget to double up as much as possible and to leave your TBR's below!
