The short story read for August is "The Power of Darkness" by E Nesbit. This story can be found within From the Dead: The Complete Weird Stories of E. Nesbit or The Power of Darkness and Other Chilling Tales and likely other books as well. If you find it within another volume of Nesbit's work or a different anthology, please share that!

WARNING! This is not one of Nesbit's charming children's stories. Borrowed from Audible: "The Power of Darkness is a very spooky tale, and not for the faint of heart. A man who is afraid of the dark is tricked into a bet that forces him to spend the night in a Parisian wax museum. This story does not end as you might expect, scaring the fainthearted senseless, as it proceeds."

Anyone game to get a little spooked early in the autumn? I hear Halloween comes early this year.
