Good luck in the search ❤️

I'm the opposite... I've constantly said I DON'T want to be a Mod anywhere... the responsibility of it all, and creativity involved in designing challenges, the Tuesday/Thursday themed discussions, and what if I disappear for awhile...
But, when this popped up, I considered volunteering, if nobody else did... if only, to help keep the threads getting generated and sorted/shelved, as indicated in the post above... at least I'm already familiar with the systems involved, given how I helped Virginie design and maintain the request spreadsheet/etc... and in the past couple years, with running and title editing some of the themed Book Clubs...
But then, Yanique piped up, and now I feel like I'm off the hook ;)
Gotta keep my 17,000 comments pure and uninflated with mod duties...

On the one hand, I already do a fair bit for the group, between the maintaining of the request sheet when Niki has a request (I think that was what happened a year or 2 ago... or I just worried about the sheet hitting the 1000 rows of requests or something... was so long ago), and the competition sheet stuff I forgot to include in the last comment...
My title could be Timelord Iain, Tech Support
:D

And I just realized that Scott has been inactive long enough, that it tells you on the front page of the group (I assume it's 90 days, or something)... and if you click that, you get a popup suggesting you send a message asking to be a moderator... and if you get no responses, you can message Goodreads directly... didn't even know that was a thing...
I know Scott, and the mods in general, have been busy for the last few years...

I do have a tendency to answer alot of questions that would otherwise be answered by mods... with the caveat I may be wrong/corrected when a real mod shows up...
Maybe I WILL throw my hat in the ring as a Junior Mod/helper, since I already contribute where I can...
If my previous comments haven't already made that sound like a bad idea :)
@Niki :shrug:

I think you are too modest, Iain, because aside from tech support, you bring a lot of warmth and liveliness to this group and act like a magnet facilitating and enlivening many reads. I might be in a hiatus, but I don't have amnesia. :)

You need to read #4, and finish the first story arc... I've been considering starting #5 and the 2nd story arc, but haven't pulled the trigger yet...

Noted. I'll find out where you're at when I'm there

Iain, you'd be perfect. I was going to nominate you but didn't want to put you on the spot.
Any of the people who have been around here a while would be great, you're a good bunch! <3

Aw, that's nice of you to say Siobhan!
Thank you to everyone who showed an interest and offered insight/feedback! I'll bring the noms to the active Mods next week and have a decision for what we're going to do. I love this group - the support in these comments is phenomenal.

And here I was, thinking about saying, you were gonna show back and find that the patients have taken over the asylum :D
Nominations, voting/elections... full-on democracy...

I am not as often here as I used to but still, this is where my Goodreads ❤️ is. xoxo
I only joined 3 groups seriously, in the past decade (I've joined some others, but barely commented a handful of times, nevermind 100s/1000s of times)...
Anyway, this is the group I've participated in the longest, and I don't really comment in the other groups I used to be active in, either...

I've been dealing with family health issues and now finally back to work (and swamped), but I had a chance to get feedback from the Mods, and will notify of the results here and PM sometime this week. :)
Hey peeps! I'd like to welcome Yanique and Iain as our new FBR MODs (and thank Elizabeth also for throwing her name into the hat). We're so excited to have you as part of the team! :D
Thanks, everyone.
I'm mostly just official Tech Support, as my title suggests :D
But I can edit thread titles and stuff, as needed, and tend to lurk alot, obsessively refreshing the notifications page...

We are on the lookout for a new Moderator - someone to help us with the day to day runnings of the group. Right now it's basically just me checking in periodically and scrambling to get buddy reads out on time when things get hectic in my personal life... the system is not working great haha. It would be best if we had at least two people actively helping the group running so things doing fall apart when I get busy.
Responsibilities would include:
1. Following our processes to get Buddy Reads set up (i.e. thread creating, populating the spreadsheet, and updating the bookshelf).
2. Checking in to update the bookshelf and move current titles to the "Currently Reading" folder a couple times a week.
...and that's basically it for now. Our group does a great job moderating itself for the most part. We just need a little help with the Buddy Read maintenance.
I spoke a little with Jenna about this, and here are some of the prerequisites we're looking for.
1. Minimum of 500 comments in the group (or more than 2 years of regular participation).
2. Plans to continue being an active member of the group for the foreseeable future.
3. Willingness to play nice with others and help where needed.
Please let me know if you'd be interested. If you're not quite at the comment count or length of time with the group but think you'd be a good match, let us know why and we'll definitely offer our consideration.
Thanks! :)
Niki
