Jay-san | 2 comments I've read 5 of the books on the list. Lolita is disturbing. American Psycho is so messed up it made me feel numb. Other books that may have made the list: Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy; Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk; Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky.

Guy Portman (guyportman) | 176 comments Blood Meridian is one of a kind, Jay-San. Haunted is pretty twisted.

From that list I’ve read American psycho, Ham on Rye, Fight club and Skag boys. All good books with American Psycho and Skag boys being the stand outs for me. Skag Boys vies with Porno for my favourite Welsh book.

I see Blood Meridian also getting mentioned, that’s a book I never finished. What’s the point of having bits written in Spanish in it?

You've read a fair few then, Gerry. McCarthy was probably just showing off his linguistic abilities. I've been trying to learn some Spanish here and there, so didn't mind it. However, the publisher could at least have provided translation. Agree with you about Skagboys. A Transgressive masterpiece.
