30.5 - Cat's Task: Back to School

This is a two book task.
Both books must be new to you.
One book can have the Graphic Novel MPG.
Books with Childrens MPG are NOT permitted.

Pick two options and read a book for each of them.
Required: State the options.
Required: State the books are new to you

Option 1: Read a book from GR's 66 Campus Novels for Back to School

Option 2: Read a book from School Reading List UK's Books for Sixth Form Year 12: https://tinyurl.com/3wv84ykx

Option 3: Read a book from School Reading List UK's Books for Sixth Form Year 13: https://tinyurl.com/bdxjymh5

Meg (megscl) | 2466 comments I saw that the Night trilogy is on the two School Reading Lists, would we need to read the whole trilogy or would it be OK to just read Night?

message 6: by Bea (new)

Bea Wow! When I saw the lists for options 2 & 3, my first reaction was "oh, no". But then I saw the books on the lists. There are some really good books on there. I envy those kids their education.

Per default rules (Miscellaneous 2 https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...) it must be the whole trilogy.

Yeah - I was impressed by the lists.

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 4447 comments I DNF'd one of the books on the list a couple of years ago. I only read about 30 pages before quitting, though I marked it as "read" (which I do for most of my DNFs). Can I still use that book as a "new to me" read?

That will be fine.

As an aside: Any reason you haven't set up an additional exclusive shelf "DNF", to accurately track those, rather than sticking them onto Read?

Robin P | 1609 comments BC will have to reply, but personally I never use the category of DNF. If I don't get far, I take the book off GR altogether. If I read farther but not all the way through, I will probably rate it 2 or 3. (I might feel it is ok but just not for me, that would be a 3.) I am not interested in GR knowing what I didn't read (or what am I reading now, because they send nagging reminders!)

I also might skim ahead and see the end, in which case I count it as read.

I have a dnf shelf, but it isn't exclusive. I count DNFs as read if I have no plan to ever read them again. I don't use GR's tracking method in any case.
