Deviki | 43 comments Ok let's be honest ......everyone have that thing they do naturally while reading books.

For me I like to drink coffee (use too), green tea and sometimes a couple of Jacob's biscuits when reading a book.

I dislike people talking loudly near by me, catchy music in the background and .....hear me out. I cannot concentrate when someone is reading a book next too me but they are flipping the pages too quickly ....almost like they are skimming through books. I find that very distracting.

Nur Hafizah | 3 comments For me, most of the time, I would read by lying down on my bed. I think most people do this, too.

Azbaqiyah | 96 comments Nornally I read my book late in the evening which is my free time.

If I'm quite addicted to the book I would keep reading it in between my busy time.

Usually I drink varites of water but now I just choose sky juice...

I had a very silly situation long ago which spills my cordinal garpe juice (rich dark purple!) on my best friend book! Her book...her new brand book's pages...turn purple!

Since that I just stick to plain water only. I don't want to repeat history (with different flavors)

@Ask - lol!

Ideally I’d like to read paperback by lying down on my bed. But since I’m a reviewer, I often opted for ebook so I could easily quote passages. Unfortunately, I read on my laptop which usually strain my back and neck. So I always ended up with unsavory positions haha! Good thing I only read in the privacy of my room :D

I always have water with me nearby. I don’t actually drink it much, but it became some kind of habit. Sometimes I eat food while reading. Sometimes I even eat finger food and my keyboard/mouse ended up semi greasy/sticky.

I need to concentrate when I read, so no music or anything. I can’t even read if I can hear loud voices.

Azbaqiyah | 96 comments @warhawke You can laugh as many time you wish, I keep smile like an idiot remiscening that monent.

Other than readings I like to listen to any classical instrumental music. Sometimes I choose the right sentimental music just to fit in any sad chapter you read. You should try, it's give you a extra mood while reading it.

One of my favourite composer is Yuki Kajiura. Most of songs are enchanted and epic.

;)

Neenee | 95 comments I don't know how to explain this. But I have to have a certain state of mind. If not I can't concentrate. No way I'm going to read something in public eg restaurants, on bus etc. Even in library, I have to find a corner somewhere to concentrate. At home, it's another thing -in noisy living room I can concentrate and then fall asleep.

Sherryl (salian) | 19 comments When I'm at home, I always find myself in a reclined position (even if I started out sitting all prim & proper). I do most of my reading on my Paperwhite and it's so light that, lately, I find that I've even been going "handless" a lot (propped against the back of the sofa or against a bunched up blanket).

Me too! Feel tempted to put up a sign that says "Stop talking! I'm trying to read" whenever I'm in this situation. That's why I always prefer to read in the comfort of my room. Other than that, I don't that I have any other must-haves while reading.

Hikaoru (hikaoru13) | 20 comments To be honest, I have no such things that I have to do/eat/position etc. I read almost everywhere. When I read, I kinda detached myself from reality so nothing really bothers me.
Well, except that sometimes, I read while walking to class, or in the elevator so I have one foot in reality as not to injure myself.

message 10: by Neenee (new)

Neenee | 95 comments I envy u, Hikaoru. you will never ever caught me reading while walking. will probably end up in a drain or stumbling over people if i do that. :-$

message 11: by Zahidah (new)

Zahidah Rosli (zahidahrosli) | 9 comments Errr am I the only one who cannot read without any music? For leisure reading,i can listen to almost any songs. But for serious(educational/research purpose) reading, I usually repeat one song till the end of my working hours. Or else I'll fall asleep haha.

message 12: by Azbaqiyah (new)

Azbaqiyah | 96 comments Same here Zaridah. But I much prefer to hear instrumental song because if I hear any songs with lyric I might sing along with it.

If during my studies I would hear a simple instrument (mostly Piano In The Forest) and by reading novels I would pick any song which seems to match mood parts of the story.

;)

JotheBookhowler | 4 comments The first hour I'd probably sit in a proper lady way, then the next few I would find myself reading in different bizarre poses to maximise comfort.

I need: Quiet areas, a bed/couch I can read in said poses.

Lann | 16 comments My only companion when reading a book is Nescafe Tarik, except before bedtime

Me too. I have books-in-progress placed in several physical locations plus on my phone for on-the-go, so I just pick it up/pull out phone when there's a bit of time to read :D

People chatting, TV on, kids playing, etc. doesn't really bother me.

I always on my stomach on bed.....at then my arm and back start to get tired and numb from that position. I would roll around on the bed until i get back to the same position

Yen Lian | 43 comments I love having a bag of chips and tea when I read, whenever I'm eating while reading I don't pay much attention to my sitting posture.

But if I'm purely reading, I tend to find a comfortable position and a quiet place to focus. Else I can't digest a single word in a noisy environment.

message 19: by Badrul (new)

Badrul Hisyam (badrulhisyam) | 5 comments I don't really eat while reading. But for coffee, capital Y. E. S... I rarely read in public places and workplace. Only at home, in my bedroom where I feel comfy enough to read. The best reading position I've tried by far, is sitting on bed and leaning my back on the headboard with a pillow to support my arch with my knees bend. Plus one more pillow on my lap to support my hands on the book. I can sit for hours like this..

message 20: by Balqis (new)

Balqis Manan | 1 comments Reading while watching a boring-to-me movie. Thus, my eyes concentrated on the books actually and that movie is just a side dish to make my time more beneficial. 2 things at 1 time

message 21: by Fzh (new)

Fzh Hns | 3 comments Tea, bed and rain are my best companion while reading

No drinking or eating while reading for me. I pretty much prefer the comfort of my bedroom for reading. Just wish that I own a plushy, comfortable chair for reading but I guess the bed would do for the time being, haha!
