Booknblues | 12060 comments Creating a Time Travel Blurb or Brochure
You are ready for a cold beverage but as you make your way to the stand you notice some travel brochures on the bulletin board. On closer examination you realize that these are time travel destinations.
You have just returned from a time travel voyage and think you might try your hand at creating a blurb or brochure for your destination.
Thinking about it, you will include skills necessary, prior knowledge, appropriate dress and what to pack (only a few items will travel through time). You think you should include what to look out for and a travel risk assessment for destination.
Of course, you cannot forget the selling points of such a journey. You want to include what the highlights will be.

Points for the blurb or “brochure” – 2 points.

Theresa | 15524 comments Ooh how interesting!

Now where did I go???? Autodidacts finished both loops weeks ago and are privately half way through a 3rd loop! I've forgotten what went before.

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12570 comments What Fun! Does it have to be from a book we read/are reading for the challenge?

Can it be from the first loop, or do we need to wait until we read our book for the second one? I'm going to be near the end of our second loop.

Thanks :)! I'll choose according to how much time I want to spend on this. My first book covered a VERY long time and many countries, so that might be too extensive. I am reading last for the second, so I'll have to see about that after I choose the book.

Theresa | 15524 comments CHICAGO 1944!

Arriving via the new single platform Clark and Division Subway Station, the nearby Mark Twain Hotel beckons as a perfect base for experiencing Chicago’s entertainment and nightlife over the next couple days. Just make sure, ladies, you lock your doors and open it to no one. You should probably carry your own luggage and packages up to your room. Aren't you glad you packed light?

Spend your first afternoon exploring, picking up a nice picnic 🍱 from the Japanese Grocery on Clark then head off to Bughouse Square to enjoy the 🌳🌲🌲🌳 and strike up a conversation with newly arrived Chicagoans from California’s Manzanar. After, invite your new friends to stroll along to Division Street to the Ting-a-Ling Candy Shop for a yummy strawberry🍦.

End your first day at a 📽double featur🎬 at the Surf Theater. Still not ready to call it a day? Head over to Aloha near the Clark & Division Subway to have a couple of vintage 🍹🍸 while watching the late night action. You might want to bring a few of your new friends with you though for strength in numbers.

Those feeling a tad fragile or short on funds the next day can have a quiet time in the soothing peace of the imposing Newberry Library, just down the street from The Mark Twain Hotel. Plus you can shelter from Chicago’s extreme weather without blowing your budget: It’s free.

Check the season you will be arriving in Chicago ‘cause winter demands a warm wool coat, scarf, hat, boots, and mittens. No jeans, t-shirts, and sneakers! Ladies wear tailored dresses and suits, buttoned to the chin with pumps, gents - suits, ties, leather shoes, and a Mallory hat.

As you head back to the Clark & Division Subway Stop to head home, make sure you are not standing too close to the edge of the platform.

Here's a handy map to help you find your way after you arrive!

Oh, JoAnne you are definitely the gal for 1944 Chicago!

I have worked on this for awhile. I read this so long ago, I had to dip back into the book to figure out what to write. Plus since it was crime fiction with murder and police corruption preying on young American Japanese women relocated by the internment and relocation program, making an enticing ad was not easy!

Ended up a lot of fun though.

Booknblues | 12060 comments Thank you, Theresa, you made my day!

I was a bit depressed that nobody took me up on what I thought was an enticing idea.

It was so fun!

Well work intervened, then road trip, but the real hurdle was that Autodidacts finished both loops so early and I was early in the second loop, it took a bit of work to remember enough details to fit it with the book.

And ... I kept hoping someone would post one to give me a sample...

But once I grasped an idea...it was fun.
