My initials are R.M. This author not only has those same initials but she has my same first name of Rosemary. I would not have picked this book off the shelves but I am very glad I read it. That is the reason I like this book challenge. It forces me to read books that are different than my normal favorite books.
The Author describes two schools in Tibet and India. In Tibet the school is Braille without Boarders founded to rescue blind children from the abuse and abandonment they often suffer in a society where they are deemed useless. It is so interesting to see how much she learns from the blind students. For example, how they get around by how places in town by sound or smell. One time someone said "Hi Rose." She asked the how she knew it was her. They said, "I recognize your typing." She also learned many more things when she went to India to teach English at the Braille without boarder there.
This book helped me not only appreciate my sight but all of my senses.
