**Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count only! If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books! As long the page count you list is correct, I will accept any link to the book. Please note that a rating is now required in your completion posts! A small review is also welcome. 😊

MountainKat | 31593 comments I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊

Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though.

Remember, it is the team's responsibility to notify the host (me) if a teammate fails to complete the task in a timely manner or otherwise goes missing! I am not checking all the team threads regularly to notice and may only check when notified a task is complete.

PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team X, you are free to come up with a team name. 😉

message 5: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31593 comments I am starting you off as a team of 3, if someone else shows up I may add them. Tasks will be adjusted as necessary when assigned, either page count or number of books. If I forget to do that (and I WILL forget!), don't hesitate to question me about it in the Q&A thread. 😊

Carolyn | 118 comments Hi everyone!!! I’m so excited to start this reading challenge!! Can’t wait to get to know everyone better :)

Maggie Robinson (librariansdaughter77) | 1485 comments Hi All! I'm excited to start reading this round as well! Carolyn, is this your first time reading the TART?

I know M and I have raced this twice before. It's a lot of fun. Both of us enjoy being able to clear books off of our TBRs and we like finding new to us reads.

I'm excited to be starting again!

message 8: by Maggie (new)

Maggie Robinson (librariansdaughter77) | 1485 comments I know we need to come up with a team name as well as determine a contact person/lead.

I don't mind being the contact person if no one else would like to do it?

For team names.....
Do any of these sound fun or help spark ideas?
I feel like my usual level of creativity is way down LOL

1- Literary Ladies
2- Turning Pages
3- Another Day, Another Story

M | 659 comments Morning! Can't wait to start racing with you guys!! Sorry I roped you into this one, Maggie lol, but we will have fun.

I like Another Day, Another Story!

What about?
Racing to the epilogue
Racy Readers

We were Chapter Chicks last time.

We will have fun!
I like Racy Readers!

I've started chunking out the tasks again...because I can't help myself LOL

Carolyn feel free to jump into the crazy at any time. This is a fun challenge and one of the best parts is getting to "meet" new people!

message 11: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 118 comments I will definitely join in the crazy lol This is my first racing challenge so I will follow your lead and I’ll probably have a few questions along the way :)

For team names I’m totally fine with any. I like Turning pages. Here a few more options to throw in the mix:

- Twisted Tales
- The Racing Romance Readers

I’m not totally clear on how all the tasks work so any tips would be helpful!! I’m sooo excited!!

I like Twisted Tales too!

Okay - first we'll need to make a decision on a team name. 😄
I'll pull them all together in a stand alone comment so it's clean.

Tasks are actually kind of simple. On the Q&A thread, MKat has a list of 100 tasks. Any of those tasks can be assigned to us at any time. Right now the tasks are sort of vague such as "read 4 books by an author who has more than 10 letters in their name"
When Kat assigns that task she will provide further clarification for us, such as "10 letters between first and last names combined" or "must be a singular author and not an author duo" she'll provide do's and don'ts if time allows her to.

Our tasks may be adjusted slightly as we are a team of 3 instead of 4, unless there is a late sign up who joins us. Meaning if the basic task is that we need to read 4 books, we would be asked to read 3 books. One per team member.

Each of us will need to read at least one book per task that meets the task. We finish as quickly as we can, post our completion posts for the book/s we've read, then we post that we've completed our task on the Q&A thread for TART, MKat will verify our completion posts and then will assign us a new task.
We move at our own speed. We don't need to win anything and we're just looking to read and have fun.

I'll set up the list of tasks in this thread for us.
On a stand alone spreadsheet I've started moving them into a few different categories
1- Team needs to decide on an item and it is a no pass task
2- No pass tasks no team decisions needed
3- Team decision is needed for an idea - task can be passed by teammate
4- Information needed from team members in order to complete
5- Tasks which will need lists and/or book shelves

What I tried to do the last two rounds I played was set up a spot that held our names, birth month and year, current state, year we joined RRRC, and the link to a shelf we'd created for our 4 fave books. In the last two rounds, there was a task to read one of your teammates favorite books. Last round there was also a task to read a book recommended to you by a teammate. I think I may still have a shelf set up for my recommendations.

For tasks with things like "read a book with under 500 reviews on GR" I typically try to find lists in Listopia and link them under the tasks so when they are assigned we have a jump off point if you don't have a particular book on your shelf.

Also, last round I had set up a separate private grp for our team so we could discuss the team decision tasks.

That group is actually still open. M you still have access to that grp and I haven't change or deleted anything. I was going to pull my lists for general tasks from there if it helps.

Maggie Robinson (librariansdaughter77) | 1485 comments Sorry to be back so late! School has started up again and we had beginning of the year meetings for both kids with their educational plans. One meeting took longer than we all anticipated -but it went well and all is happy.

Comments -
No need for anyone to delete their comments. We need to hash out our decisions and having everyone’s info at the head of the chat is perfect.

I was going to delete my one big comment with the list of tasks 1-50 tomorrow once we talked out the team decisions.
It’s easier for me to copy my comment with the links and stuff and just move it to be later on the thread. And then I can add a second comment with Tasks 51 - 100.
We shouldn’t delete things after that though. ❤️

We can leave this one for when it's called as well. I'm a mood reader and go with majority as well. (Horrible at making decisions)

Texas - Isla Madden Mills, Kate Stewart, some Max Monroe, LJ Shen?
LA - Kayley Loring. some Max Monroe
NY - Kayley Loring, 1 by Alley Ciz, GD Taylor series, Max Monroe Billionaire series and spin offs, Their Dr series.

Tink Magoo is bad at reviews (tinkmagoo) | 1380 comments I'll fill my answers out in a moment but I do think it will be better to have different authors for each read the same author task, just to break things up and if someone doesn't like the author too much it will be easier for them.

For the read same series task there are quite a few with different authors set in the same town which may be a good idea.

I'll go with the majority and just force myself to finish the book if I find something that bad anyway.

0. Read a sports romance (MPG) or a book with a primarily green cover, teams decide which. No pass for this task.

With both college and pro football seasons starting, I’m sure I’m not the only one with sports on the brain! As a team, decide if you are a book with primarily green cover or a book with MPG Sports Romance. If selecting a sports romance, it can either be the generic Sports (alone or combined) or the specific sports such as football, baseball or hockey - but it MUST be MPG! If selecting books for the cover option, green must be the primary color you see on the cover to qualify. No pass for this task.

Tink - No special way of doing things. Whomever is on and sees the task posted can post. Same with completion posts. If we all have completed the task and we haven't posted over to the Q&A thread whomever can do so. I don't want to hold us up in anyway. I also know we have a wide range of time zones in this group.
