Must be active in the buddy discussion to count for the points. Minimum of two comments talking about the contents of the book, not only "It's good, I like this/that."

Aliana (aliananana) | 88 comments I'll be starting this tonight! Looking forward to it :)

Leslie Dauer-Creek | 320 comments I started it earlier today. The chapters are very short and quick reads (much like Clap When You Land was too), so in future days I may read ahead of the schedule. Very interested in seeing how the "new guy" will factor in to the plot other than the initial curiosity. And how Emoni will be able to handle the culinary class. The set up is very interesting so far.

Aliana (aliananana) | 88 comments I'm about 27% in and so far enjoying it! Contemporary isn't exactly my genre but this feels different, the way it's narrated is beautiful and the characters feel so real with their dialogue. I love Emoni's relationship with her abuela and her daughter, it's so heart-warming and wholesome. I'm also interested to see more of the new guy (Malachi is his name I think) and how what role he's gonna play. I just finished the part where he finds out she has a daughter and I'm intrigued to see how he's gonna react to that in the longer term. I also wanna see if she decides to go on the trip or not, it sounds like a really fun one!

Really liking the short chapters, they work perfectly well with my other reads - which have long dreading chapters I wish I could work through quicker XD

Leslie Dauer-Creek | 320 comments I did finish the book a few days ago. I did enjoy the happy ending, though it left with possibilities as well. This really did feel like a good coming-of-age story where Emoni really struggled and found her path and her confidence. I just wish I knew what happened in the long run with Malachi, given that they will be separated by school and his dreams.
