Milly, Aubrey, and Jonah Story are cousins, but they barely know each other, and they've never even met their grandmother. Rich and reclusive, she disinherited their parents before they were born. So when they each receive a letter inviting them to work at her island resort for the summer, they're surprised... and curious.

Their parents are all clear on one point—not going is not an option. This could be the opportunity to get back into Grandmother's good graces. But when the cousins arrive on the island, it's immediately clear that she has different plans for them. And the longer they stay, the more they realize how mysterious—and dark—their family's past is.

Chapter Two - I really relate to Aubrey. I was a swimmer in high school. Very timid and non confrontational.

Chapter Three - Yikes the scene where he meets Milly

Chapter Four - I like Milly she's a fun pov.

Chapter Five - I hate Adam, Aubrey's dad. This whole grandma plot is boring since she isn't around ever.

Chapter Six - Wasn't expecting the Jonah twist but it seems obvious in hindsight.

Chapter Seven - I predict (view spoiler)[there to be a romance between Milly and Jonah. ooo there's gonna be a party, I love party scenes in books (hide spoiler)]

Chapter Eight - Super proud of Aubrey, Milly is so awkward and nosey I love her.

Allison, June 1996 - I dislike young Adam too. I feel bad for Allison she's doing so much and I don't think anything good is coming from Matt

On Chapter Nine and I like all the characters and I enjoy following them but I don't care about the plot because nothing is happening and it's kind of boring. I'm almost halfway in and I'm wondering when we are gonna get any kind of answers.

Chapter Nine - I wish Milly would get off Jonah's case. He isn't doing anything wrong (view spoiler)[he's literally there cause he needs the money. Dr. Baxter clearly knows what's up but of course we don't get to know because the book doesn't want us knowing anything interesting ugh. (hide spoiler)]

Finished. Didn't like it as much as I'd hoped. The plot got pretty predictable towards the end. Still like the characters and I like that they feel like kids
