Karin | 9218 comments This is the first time I've read this; growing up I did read The Railway Children, but I'm not sure if I read any of her other books.

This is a collection of unrelated stories about dragons meant for children. It was published in 1900, so is very turn-of-that-century.

The stories were mixed as to how much I liked them now, but I am sure I would have loved this book when I was a young child. I enjoyed the fact that the stories are silly, which is sometimes just what kids need! I also enjoyed some of the silly humour she slipped in there, such as when the princess who was stuck in an island (by magic) for many, many years was able to eat because she "lived off her income." It was a perfect answer for when kids would ask what she ate all that time that was cooked by her dragon guard.

My rating is an average of how much I liked it now with how much I'd have loved it as a child.
