Luke (korrick) Now that I've finished everything I had down for classics reading in 2022 (although logging them on here is another story), it's time for doing some catching up on more modern literature, many of which may very well end up being classics some day.

Feel free to click on the shelf link and make prioritizing suggestions based on whatever catches your eye.

Post Classic 2022
A Thousand Forests in One Acorn: An Anthology of Spanish-Language Fiction - Valerie Miles (Currently Reading)
Caín - José Saramago (Currently Reading)
Second Person Singular - Sayed Kashua (Currently Reading)

Up Next (?)
Outlaw Woman: A Memoir of the War Years 1960-1975 - Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz
Divisadero - Michael Ondaatje
Gellhorn: A Twentieth-Century Life - Caroline Moorehead
Mortality - Christopher Hitchens

Kathleen | 5458 comments I always enjoy perusing your books, Aubrey! Lots here I'll continue exploring, but what stood out to me from your post classic shelf are The Secret Scripture and Celestial Harmonies. Looking forward to both of those, and am also anxious to see your review of Second Person Singular. Enjoy!

Luke (korrick) Haha, cheers, Kathleen. You zeroed in on the longest on my liat in the form of CH, but we'll see what I'm in the mood for once I've finished the anthology.

Annette | 618 comments I scanned my most recent reads that made an impression on me -- then I eliminated the many that you've already read (lol) leaving:

Gilgamesh of Uruk Gilgamesh from the wife's point of view (she doesn't even have a name!) by Tamara Agha-Jaffar
The Blizzard Voices -- specifically the version by Ted Kooser (I love Kooser's poetry.)
The Droning Shaman: Poems -- a poetry collection by Nora Marks Dauenhauer
The Lost Words -- a beautiful the picture book by Robert Macfarlane illustrated by Jackie Morris
A Man Called OveA Man Called Ove -- So fun. I think the message is lost in the movie.
The Man Who Planted Trees by Giono
Running with Sherman -- a fun read :)

Hope something suits!

Luke (korrick) Cheers, Annette. I'll be sure to check these out when I can.

Cynda | 5188 comments Hi Aubrey. How goes reading José Saramago? I read The Tale of the Unknown Island a fantasy novella. It was very good. I hope you enjoy reading Caín.
