TS Chan (tschan) | 159 comments This is a chapter full of revelations.

Caladan Brood is an ascendant! Should've seen that one coming.

And Silverfox, a flesh and bone Bonecaster with part soul of a potential Elder God, if Nightchill was who I think she was, especially judging from Kallor's reaction to her. And an army of T'lan Imass answering her command, what an OMG moment!

Watching the parley from the eyes of Mhybe was a good change of perspective, especially when both she and Korlat were eyeing up Whiskeyjack. Hehe..

Really enjoying this book so far and reading through all of TS's comments about it, which I agree with!

I love seeing all the old people we've met before and I'm enjoying meeting new ones who I hope will develop into ones we root for too.

I liked the revelation about the Crippled God and how that made the Great Ravens as they intrigue me a lot and I am glad to see Crone and Silver Fox (Tattersail/Nightchill) back in particular.

I liked seeing Quick Ben as he went after his tracker and what he discovered too.

Generally I am enjoying this more that DG and on par with GotM at the moment but I have a feeling this may over take both soon :)

Loving the fast pace and the cool characters. I don't have time for a long update just now as I have to get on with some work, but maybe later as I plan to read some more today too, hopefully!

Alex Willis (fightingokra) | 71 comments I agree with both of ladies comments. I would like to add how nice it is that Erikson allows us into character's minds and thought process more than I remembered from the previous books. I think it added a lot to the meeting, as well as making the pace seem faster.

Kallor getting backhanded by Whiskyjack was a nice moment. For one Kallor is not a character that I want to root for and I wonder why Brood associates with him. It is also nice to see two of the biggest warlords this Malazan world has known defend a child. There is a sense of honor in both of them. Almost like crushing a man's skull is fine, but don't touch a child.

The Tenescowri sound like a brutal bunch when cannibalism is one of the more tame rumors about them. I am interested in how Brood and Whiskyjack engage them and what surprises the Tenescowri have in store for the "rebel" forces.

I really enjoyed Tattersail in GotM and am glad to see her back. I am curious if the two who went in the warren with her change aspects about her. Captain Paran was the closest to her and if anyone can spot differences it would be him, though Quick Ben's mastery of warrens may tell us a lot about Silverfox too.

Alex Willis (fightingokra) | 71 comments One thing that stuck out to me that I forgot about when writing the previous post was that Crone seemed to believe The Crippled God to no longer exist. I assume this to be the dominant thought among those who are aware of The Crippled God's existence. What ramifications will come from the discovery that The Crippled God is still alive.

Also Crone referred to The Crippled God as an alien being which struck me as odd.

The Crippled God as an alien being is not actually odd. If you recalled in Part II of the Prologue, they referred to the CG as a foreign god torn apart in his descent to earth.

Dale Nevin | 20 comments Wow cool chapter. Took me ages to remember who Nightchill was. Was to a point where i was ok i haven't met this character yet then 'ting' the penny dropped. I agree with Alex in this chapter, especially when Silverfox drops the bomb, that its the most so far we have been given people's thoughts. To me it feels already that out of the first 3 novels Eriksons character development seems a whole lot better. Really hope it continues
