Mortal Sword, Destraint and Shield Anvil - intriguing titles and characters which I am pretty sure we'll be seeing a lot of in MOI. Such power of healing in Karnadas that the Grey Swords can draw on it from a distance. Even more intriguing is Quick Ben's musing that these titles are ancient and not used anymore. And speaking of Quick Ben - we are again plagued with the question of "Who is he???"
The action scene of Itkovian and his wings being massacred by the K'ell Hunter is pretty gruesome. Poor horse!! This scene also depicts how formidable the K'ell hunters are from the cost it exacts on the Grey Swords and even the T'lan Imass to only kill 5 of them.
Connections are slowly forming now. Pannion is a Jaghut name, and the Elder God's voice in Toc's head "the children of the Pannion Seer are suffering. You must find a way to release them". *Shuddering at all these delicious tidbits that Erikson seems so fond of doling out in bite sizes*
Toc the Younger's arc is becoming more and more intriguing (how often have I used that word? I can't find a more apt description though). His relationship with Tool is growing on me. And we see the first signs of emotions in Tool when his sister left him. I am feeling absurdly saddened by the T'lan Imass and Jaghut storylines.
Love this part that wraps up a rather emotional and intense scene "Uh oh, I think I just overstepped the familiarity thing"
Another delicious tidbit from Erikson on K'rul's power. The warrens are formed from his veins and arteries! Such power, and yet he is able to remain so passive.
This long chapter ended on a sad note from Gruntle's POV. And I suspect this is far from the last of it.

My favorite parts of the chapter involved Lady Envy, Toc and Tool. As far as this chapter goes they were the most likable group and Lady Envy learns the biggest revelation about how the warrens function. Also Toc winning the respect of the savage servants brought a smile to my face.
This war is going to be the most epic thing I have ever read. There are so many moving pieces, all of which are important to how things play out in the end.
On a sad note we see the after effects of the battle from the last chapter where Gruntle in fact does live, but only through the sacrifice of Harllo. Stonny gave Harllo so much grief, but in the end he gave his live in the most noble way to save a friend. I would like to think that Stonny liked Harllo deep down and was only picking on him the way girls will sometimes pick on guys they like. I love reading about the women in this story. They are so tough (or put on a tough persona) and complicated which makes for an interesting read.
