TS Chan (tschan) | 159 comments You know what.. I am scared. Scared for my emotions as I continue on reading this book, and I have to read on - there is no choice in this matter.

What a harrowing and traumatic chapter this is, and we are barely past two-thirds of this book. I already started crying here. Grinding my teeth as I read the first few pages of Itkovian's stand and his courageous warhorse. Crying as I read of the brutal slaughter of Brukhalian who did not relent until his head was smashed; and when Karnadas died after apologising to Itkovian that the healing was incomplete while the latter assuring him otherwise.

Buke's POV of the single tenement building spilling over with corpses and Gruntle staring down at the horror of what he has done.

Another revolting scene in the Jelarkan Palace, and I really hoped that the prince was already dead as Anaster said before they started.. doing THAT.

The epigraph gave us a clue about the soul of the First Child of the Dead Seed, one which Itkovian is aware of being the Shield Anvil and utilises that awareness to send Anaster shrieking.

"I am the world's grief. And I will hold. I will hold it all, for we are not yet done." I need a warm blanket now..

Totally agree TS! This chapter was a really crazy one with so much sadness, murder and brutality! Gosh I guess this book is just really well paced, because I guess I kind of knew it was coming, but it still hit me like a shock wave of horror and it's all rather barbaric.

I dislike Anaster a lot and the consumption of dead or alive humans is not something I love to imagine for sure! However, for this world and showing this culture it works and it's shocking for sure. Crazy indeed!

Alex Willis (fightingokra) | 71 comments This chapter was brutal. I imagine the Tenescowri like zombies, not the 60's or 70's kind mind you, but the newer breed of zombies that are relentless in their pursuit of victims. This was such a great chapter!

Pretty grim bunch to be sure!

Paul (paul_sff) | 68 comments Ughhh, just read this chapter. I am reading a zombie book in parallel to this book and these Tenescowri are so much worse than actual zombies.
