Courtney Webb | 1361 comments Yay!! Ok I’m starting

message 3: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Courtney was saying about potentially reading a "scary" read for Halloween?
I'm personnaly not a huge horror reader, but I do actually have a few on my kindle or shelves:
Empire of the vampire (chunky one)
The broken girls
Summer sons
House of hollow
Into the drowing deep
A couple of witches books: The nature of witches or A discovery of witches. My library has The year of the witching too.
I think Ninth House has some horror elements to it as well :)

message 4: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments I will start on this one either tonight or tomorrow :)

message 5: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments Ooh ok let me check into those books n see! We’re both out of our element with this genre!!! Lol 😝

Corina | 2768 comments Agree haha

message 25: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Read the first 3 chapters, I think I'm on page 50 or around there..Robin is now at Oxford. Feel sorry for him...I know its the 19th century and all that but someone actually asked him if he can see because of his eyes...

message 26: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments I’m like on chapter 9. I def want to read the poppy war too…. Have you read it yet?

message 27: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments I finished The Poppy War series, its good, a lot more magic, brutal at times

message 28: by Nishita (new)

Nishita (to_beread) | 63 comments Hey guys! I've been busy with college assignments so I'm way behind on all my books. I'll start Babel today. Looking forward to reading it.

message 29: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Hi Nishita, all good. I personally haven't read much. My parents are visiting so I will probably won't have much time for reading.

message 30: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments Nishita just jump right in, I’m only on chapter 9 i think…

Hey, has anyone put the new Stephen king book on their TBR? I’m not usually a fan of his content but this one looks good 😊

message 31: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Hey, to be honest I'm not a huge King fan either, but I would consider reading the new one haha

message 32: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments Corina wrote: "Hey, to be honest I'm not a huge King fan either, but I would consider reading the new one haha"

Yay ok! I know I saw it somewhere and read the little summary on it and was like okay…I could do this one !!!! Ok so whenever we get to it, it’s there

message 33: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Sounds good ;)

message 34: by Bella (new)

Bella | 1177 comments I also had an eye on the new one! that might be a good spooky read!

message 35: by Bella (new)

Bella | 1177 comments I'm moving through this one pretty slowly! I've been very busy these past few days but I'll continue reading and update as I go along.

message 36: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments Me too...I'm only around page 80, so haven't read a lot from this one, wanted to finish Empire of Gold too hahaha

message 37: by Bella (new)

Bella | 1177 comments oh cool! I'm not too far then lol

message 38: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments lol...all good, don't have much time to read either. I think I made it to page 120.
Honestly, this professor is just dreadful.

message 39: by Bella (new)

Bella | 1177 comments yeah, I hate his guts lol

message 40: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments Lmao me too

message 41: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments and the bloody colonialism...that scene in the carriage when the kid (granted he was a child but still...) asked him if he can see properly because of his eyes

message 42: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments I know! Race is definitely seen throughout the whole story so far. And how Letty and Victoire are treated …errr!!!!

message 43: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments exactly, race and the weaker sex as they say...it is the end of the 19th century I guess

message 44: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments I know. The footnotes keep making me second guess if this book is based on real events or not. I keep googling the footnotes lol

message 45: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments lol...its definitely part historical fiction part made up. there is an authors note at the beginning of the book about the historical accuracy

message 46: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments Yes i found it!!!

message 47: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments What do you think of Ramy and Letty?

message 48: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments To be honest, I find Ramy a bit annoying and full of himself lol...Letty, as well, though I feel sorry for her cause of her brother. Unsure about Griffin too, I think there is more to it behind him faking his death.

message 49: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Webb | 1361 comments Oh def I think Babel is sinister

message 50: by Corina (new)

Corina | 2768 comments lol...it is a bit for sure
