1. F: A Novel is driven by characters. The three brothers, Martin, Ivan and Eric, are very different. Is family their only connection, or are they linked by something more? How does their estranged father, Arthur, change those relationships?

2. The scenes described through different points of view help illustrate the characters. Did you enjoy this technique, or did you find it difficult to read?

3. In an interview with Barnes and Noble, Kehlmann says "the notion of family means whatever we, as a society and as individuals, decide it should mean." Do you agree or disagree? Is this idea reflected in the novel?

4. F is for... F refers to many words in this novel. Which do you find the most important?

5. Would you recommend this book? Why or why not?
