Turns out Katrin was the fake client who tried to kill him after he rescued her. Did you guess correctly? Your thoughts about Evan’s decision to let her die and ultimately help her daughter Samantha, letting her believe the best about Danika in death?

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I was suspicious of Katrin. I questioned that she called Evan so soon after Morena was rescued. I didn't think Morena would find someone to help that quickly. I also questioned if her father being killed by the kidnappers was real at all. It happened over the phone. We didn't see it happen and never saw the body. The guy on the phone probably wasn't her father and I assume he worked with the assassins to set up Evan.

I thought it was appropriate that Evan let Katrin die. I liked that he helped her daughter which was the reason she was doing this to begin with.

~Melissa~ | 429 comments I was totally surprised that she tried to kill Evan as he is rescuing her. I really had no feelings for him not attempting to rescue her again - there was no way for Evan to trust her knifing him. I'm not sure how she thought she would get away from the men who paid for her gambling debt. I'm not sure Evan would've gone after her even finding out that she was the fake client.

The daughter Samantha, she already knew what her mother was like. It was nice of Evan to let her think that her mother had finally done something nice for her.

I just knew she was fake! From the onset, I questioned her legitimacy, especially after learning she was a professional poker player. She had the skills for subterfuge. But trying to kill Evan? That was just stupid, especially when she had the opportunity to go a different route.

Evan let her be killed because she wasn’t an innocent. Her daughter was so he figured out a way to give her financial support and a decent lasting memory of her mother. That was more than Danika deserved. I don’t think he would have ever killed her, though.

~Melissa~ | 429 comments I had to go back and re read this part as I finished this pretty early in the month. Editing my response now

Got it!

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I don't have anything to add to your comments. I agree.

I knew Katrin was a fake early on. I didn't have a problem with her dying. She was selfish and didn't think of anyone but herself.

It was kind of Evan to give Samantha a positive memory of her mother. I loved that.
