Adaliah inhaled the sweet strawberry-scented air as she sat down next to a couple of vines. She loved being alone, especially outside. It was almost noon - just before dinner - which meant that it was mostly isolated here. Other campers would be relaxing in their cabins, done for the day. Liah, however, loved the outdoors. She took out her sketchpad and began to sketch a couple of strawberry plants, as she waited for the sun to set, so she could watch it peacefully.
"Aw schist I lost it." Nemo muttered to himself. He scoured the strawberry fields for his tool he'd lost earlier how'd he lose it? Well...long story... He saw a girl with h/c sketching on a note pad. Who was that? He didn't recognize her. But the bibes she was giving off reminded him of....graveyards, death. He got the chills and shook his head trying to keep his cool.
Liah sensed a presence getting closer to her. She placed her sketchpad and pencil on the grass, and slowly did a 360 until her eyes fell upon a boy with black hair, tanned skin, and brown eyes. He was looking straight at her but broke eye contact when he noticed her looking at him.
Normally he'd greet someone with some corny joke as his siblings said but he felt unnerved when he saw her...
Liah panicked a bit; she didn't want anyone to know about her not-so-secret comfort place. She quickly willed a bunch of shadows to conceal her figure... though the damage had already been done. The boy had seen her.
She blended into some shadows that came out of nowhere. That was kind of cool in a creepy way. He gave an unsure wave. "Hey! Sorry to ruin your um sketching session! Seen a sort of odd wrench anywhere around here?"
((Lolz XD It's fine if you just want to keep it as a friendship... I'm cool w/that as well. Tbh, I think Nemo reminds me a lot of Leo, so I guess you could ask yourself the question: What would Leo do? Or any character you think captures Nemo's persona well :)))
((Lol I was shooting for Leo cause Nemo really admires his older brother Leo. But I'm also trying to make him a little more serious like uh Percy who's not the best when it comes to serious stuff actually!))
((Whatever you want for the crush stuff btw if you want him to then sure! But if not then sure! lol))
Schist! He saw me! Adaliah was a really socially-awkward individual. When was the last time she interacted with a person? A month ago? Two months ago? She wasn't quite sure. The only thing she'd talked to was her zombie friend, Cheryll, who usually hung out in the Underworld with Cerberus, but could be summoned as well. "Um... hello," She spoke in a small voice. "I-I don't think I've seen any wrench lying around here." She could see the boy's face drop a bit. "Sorry." She muttered.
((Tbh, I think Liah and Nemo have a good dynamic together, but if you want them to just be friends, that's cool too! :) Ah yes, Nemo also reminds me of Percy a bit, he has that 'Persassy' vibe to him, and he's just overall an amazhang person!))
((Lol thank you! I just love Adaliah she's just agh! Fangirling over her lol it's whatever you think they could be !!))
"It's fine! It shouldn't have hid itself anyway! It's just the wrench's fault after all." He shrugged wondering if he should just back away now. "What were you drawing anyways?" He gestured to her sketch pad that was laying in the grass.
((Aww thx! I think it's best to let the characters decide for themselves as the story progresses. Cuz it'd just be weird to go from new friends to BAAM! You're lovers now! I think we should it give it some time, tbh :)))
"Oh, um," She wasn't sure if she should tell him about her secret passion for art, so she just showed him the strawberry vines. "Nothing special, really. Just some plants." She mumbled.
"Very detailed 'art.' " he made quotations with his fingers when he said art. "Wow you must have had a lot of practice." He rummaged through a bush he'd remembered running though when he lost it.
"Oh, thanks." Liah was surprised that he liked her art. "I do sketch a bit, every now and then." She thought it'd be rude to just sit and not help him look for his wrench. "Would you possibly want some help?" She offered.
"Nah I'm good." He finally found wrench between two bushes. "Do you come here often?" He probably was asking too many questions
"Yeah human emotions are..." He caught himself before he said difficult and sounded like a complete alien. "finicky." He put instead.
Adaliah stared at the sunsetting. Different hues of red, orange, and yellow were splashed onto the sky, like splotches of paint on a canvas. A cool breeze ruffled the leaves of the strawberry vines. She inhaled the perfume-like aroma which was growing stronger, thanks to the wind. "Emotions don't really have a set place and time to arrive. They just sort of appear whenever they want to. We can't completely stop them, nor can we completely suppress them. It's better to just experience them, understand them, and try to learn from them."
((Well that got deep XDDD))
((Well that got deep XDDD))
He tried to register what she'd said and process that information. He was genuinely surprised that she'd said something so.....knowledgeable about emotions. He honestly didn't know how they worked he rather be around machines where everything actually made sense. "I think....that makes sense. Basically: When it hits you just deal with it." He summarized.
He shrugged and stuffed the wrench tool in his back pocket. "So you're an expert on human emotions?" He half joked half stated.
He raised an eyebrow. She seemed like she almost said "was" then changed it to "is." Was her mom....dead? Or alive? He thought better then to ask. "Cool. Those psychologists read people like blueprints."
Liah almost breathed in relief when the boy changed the subject. "So you're saying blueprints are easy to read?" She asked, genuinely puzzled.
Nemo looked down at his hands as they started tweaking wires on a small random project. "Well blueprints can be read easily. They make sense and have everything laid out precisely where they need to be."

"But what if something comes up that wasn't included in the blueprints?" Liah asked sharply. "What would you do if you spent hours, maybe even days, planning out the perfect blueprint, but some small insignificant event turns it into a useless piece of blue paper?" The sky grew darker as the sun set below the waters.
Nemo hadn't really thought about it. Well sure he'd messed up his own blueprints before and had to redo everything. But it really was true. The paper was just a useless blue paper. He didn't know what to say. "It really just depends on who writes it."
Liah's face dropped a bit, clearly unsatisfied with his answer. But she didn't want to press him, so she nodded instead. "I guess so," She turned around to ask him his name, but she heard the conch horn's sound calling everyone to the Dining Pavillion for dinner. "I better head back." She began packing away her art supplies, when something silver caught her eye. "Looks like you were going to forget your wrench again." Her eyes sparkled in amusement as she handed him his tool. "Keep it safe." She said, as the shadows grew darker around her.
"That's embarrassing." A smile tugged at his lips. "Welp I'm gonna go eat dinner, see you around!" He ran towards the dining pavilion.
"See you!" She called out to him, as the shadows engulfed her body. The last thing she saw before shadow-traveling, was the faint highlight of the moon glowing silvery-white.
