Join us in reading this HR that features the theme FORCED INTO MARRIAGE!

Synopsis:
Mina’s well-ordered life is thrown into disarray when her father drops a bombshell on his deathbed: she has a brother she never knew of. Not only that, he is on his way to rescue her from the collapse of their school under a mountain of debts.

A wild journey across country later, Mina finds herself thrown at the feet of the brutish William Nye, prize-fighter and owner of a disreputable inn, The Merry Harlot. Respectable Mina is appalled to find herself obliged to wed this surly stranger!

Forced to draw on reserves of inner strength she never knew she possessed, Mina uncovers perilous secrets and bravely carves herself a new life at the side of this man, as she proves herself a more than worthy partner for the prize-fighter.

Happy reading!

Does someone know a site like Z-Library who has this ebook?!

message 3: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 1369 comments I was looking forward to reading this book for the first time. I can't find it anywhere for free without z library. I might have to buy it :(

Merry in and out for the next few days (jewelhound) | 855 comments I was able to recommend it through my library as the Audio version is available on Overdrive. It might be worth a try.

Ohh, I hope I find it because I put myself as the discussion leader of this book, just to see how this works, but if I can find the book it gets tough :(

I've read the first few chapters in the book preview... I'm not
sure what to think...

Merry in and out for the next few days (jewelhound) | 855 comments That sounds ominous lol.....

ahah, yes... I'm curious, but I don't know if I'm curious enough to buy the book...

Merry in and out for the next few days (jewelhound) | 855 comments I do still buy audible books. But I tend to recommend more hard copy or ebooks to my library to buy than for me to purchase. I am a one and done style reader and do not enjoy rereads. They usually drop in ratings as I have no surprises. I understand if you can't get a copy it may not be the book for you right now Sandra.

Maureen | 183 comments I listened to the audio version on Hoopla through my library. I enjoyed the second half of the book. I especially liked all the sex scenes.

Jan (jan130) | 2667 comments The book is currently on sale on Amazon kindle Australia for $1.49 (AUD). Her books aren't expensive anyway, but that's a bargain!

The first time I tried to read this book I struggled to get into it, but on another try I got hooked and ended up enjoying it.

Merry in and out for the next few days (jewelhound) | 855 comments I listened to the Audio version and it made a world of difference. I normally prefer written.

T’Lynn | 16 comments I read this book a while back and really loved it. It's not often you get such a long time in only one POV but it really works with the mystery of this book. I was just telling my sister about this book and how it made mundane activities seem really fascinating to me!

Mariana | 2692 comments This will be my first book to read by Alice Coldbreath. I am looking forward to reading this month, but it will probably be in the last week.

I am about 80% through this book and I am enjoying it. I was not sure what to expect given the comments above - however I find it quite compelling. I am eager to get to the end as it is all quite mysterious, however I am not sure ai want it to end.

It is unusual.to read a book from only one person's POV. In this case the point of view is from someone who is very straightlaced and prudish, however it seems to work. It is also set mostly in a fairly working class setting which is also very different from most HR set in the UK.

Blue | 4 comments I have begun a good book. That's why I can not join the December challenge. Otherwise...

Jan (jan130) | 2667 comments IMO Coldbreath's books are getting better the more she writes. I really enjoyed her most recent, A Contracted Spouse for the Prizefighter, which is about a former prizefighter turned music hall/theatre manager. Best so far. For those reading and enjoying this BOTM, I encourage you to continue the series. Fresh and original reads about lower-to-middle classes, and not a duke in sight :)
A Contracted Spouse for the Prizefighter (Victorian Prizefighters, #3) by Alice Coldbreath

T’Lynn | 16 comments I agree, her books have all been so enjoyable and i devour them as soon as they are released! She has a special writing style for marriages of convenience that always feels fresh because her characters are so different!

Thanks Jan. I might add them to my reading list! I finished the book and enjoyed it to the end.

Mariana | 2692 comments I finished reading.

In the beginning, I was a bit disappointed. I had read quite a few good reviews about this book, but I do not think Alice Coldbreath's heroes are going to be my cup of tea. However, he did redeem himself by the very end. For most of the book, I just felt like he was getting the way better end of the bargain! Mina was smart, kind, not judgmental, of good character, and open to change. For me, she was really rather a paragon. If he had not come around, that would have made him a really bad hero. I did enjoy the writing style, and I do plan to finish the trilogy in 2023 as part of my series challenge.
