Do you think Tom hired Tracy solely based on Mark’s recommendation or was he also swayed by her appearance? Any theories?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments Mark's recommendation had a lot to do with it, but Tracy was gorgeous and would have made excellent eye candy for any prospective clients as the receptionist. Too bad that was all she was good at.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I was thinking Tom really needed someone to answer the phones and Mark said "I know someone". I can't imagine Tom would hire Tracy without asking questions or calling references.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1808 comments I think he originally hired her based on Mark's recommendation, but her looks played a part in her keeping the job. Tom and the other men gave her a lot of slack. Anyone else would have been fired.

Tom seemed to be desperate for help and Mark gave him a quick and easy way out. The only one brave enough to complain to him about Tracy was Lindsay. If he hadn’t been so wrapped up in those exercises, I think he would have cut bait. But, he gave her too long of a rope and it’s hard to deny that her looks were an influence.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I agree. Tom needed help, and he trusted Mark's recommendation.

I don't see Tom as judging a person, woman or man, on their appearance alone. He is too smart to put his company at risk like that. He did give her a long rope, but I believe he was too focused on the mission instead of what Tracy was/wasn't doing.

I agree, Sharon.
