This is the place to 'chit chat' about just about anything. Open to anything that does not fit into the other folders. In moderating other groups I have found that giving the members a place for general conversation helps to not only bond the group, but allows members to voice things that they either could not or would not try fitting into other categories. So this is the place...chat away!

♥ Sandi ❣ | 617 comments I apologize for the late roll out of this group. My plan was to have it up and running by Nov 5th. However I had a death in the family and my house was invaded by traveling family. Everyone is now gone - and altho I am exhausted...lol - I will get this up and running. Thanks for being patient. Hope you enjoy the group.

♥ Sandi ❣ | 617 comments Anyone planning on watching Emancipation with Will Smith that hit Apple+ today? I hear that the movie theater has been boycotted due to the Chris Rock incident.

message 7: by stephanie (last edited Dec 10, 2022 07:15AM) (new)

stephanie Yes, I went and seen Emancipation. I went to the movie theater to watch it. Some folks were already there, but most of them were senior citizen age, but it always is during the daytime. I will NOT boycott Will's movies, because of what he did to Chris. Will is an actor, and a damn good one at that. No one seems to be boycotting any of the football games because of Jerry Jones or Brett Favre...I'm not trying to throw the race card in this matter one bit, but those last folks I have mentioned seem to have made a HUGH mark on many more people than just a slap on Chris's face. The beef was between them two, not the entire world.

message 8: by ♥ Sandi ❣ (last edited Dec 10, 2022 07:36PM) (new)

♥ Sandi ❣ | 617 comments Stephanie did you see any sign of anyone boycotting the film where your theater was? I have not seen it live on any news, etc, just read that it was happening. Who knows, maybe that was just publicity too and not really happening?

I am not a fan of Smith's comedy, but his drama movies are always good and leave you thinking.

Did you enjoy the movie?

message 9: by stephanie (new)

stephanie I enjoyed the movie very much. I knew about Peter when I was a child. Many Black American's knows what happened in the past, as well as the past repeating. I seen a few boycott this movie, and yet said NOTHING about Brett and the millions stolen, NOTHING about Jerry Jones and trying to keep Black Americans out of public schools, and yet folks wonder why this country is so divided. The media picks what they want to cover, they have been doing that from day one. Will Smith is a good actor, Has always been, and will always be. I don't dismiss what he did to Chris. People have got to quit beating a dead horse. Why is it that certain folks seem to only want to pick and choose who to forgive and who shouldn't?

♥ Sandi ❣ | 617 comments Another new possibility...

Per The Independent
(The Independent is a British online newspaper. It was established in 1986 as a national morning printed paper. Nicknamed the Indy, it began as a broadsheet and changed to tabloid format in 2003.)

Warner Bros ‘in talks’ with JK Rowling about Harry Potter TV series 4/4/23 Tom Murray

A Harry Potter TV series is under discussion between Warner Bros and JK Rowling.

The media giant is reportedly pushing to convince the author to produce a new series based directly on her book series for its new streaming service that will combine HBO Max and Discovery+.

Bloomberg first reported that the media giant was “close to a deal” for the series on Monday (3 April). However, The Independent understands that while the proposal is “in talks”, it is not near completion.

Bloomberg cites two sources with knowledge of the deal saying that each season of the series will be based on one of the seven books.

The controversial author will be “involved in the series to ensure it remains loyal to her original material” but will not be involved in the day-to-day running of the show or serve as its creator, the publication’s sources say.

The Independent has contacted Rowling’s representatives for comment.

The news comes days after Rowling’s production company Brontë Film and TV reported a 74 per cent drop in profits.

The company’s subsidiaries include Harry Potter Theatrical Productions, which produces the play Harry Potter and The Cursed Child. Brontë has attributed its plummeting profits to the closure of theaters during the Covid lock down.

The English author has been the subject of sustained backlash due to her stance on transgender issues, which some critics have characterized as “transphobic”.

Earlier this year, the highly anticipated game based on the Harry Potter universe Hogwarts Legacy was released after being met by some unsuccessful calls for a boycott.

Warner Bros produced the eight films based on the book series, which generated more than $7.7bn (£6.2 bn) at the worldwide box office.

♥ Sandi ❣ | 617 comments Is anyone interested in any foreign language shows from books? I have found a couple but unless someone wants to watch/read them I am not going to post them. The ones I have found are both in Spanish. I think there are English translations of the books, but the shows are still in Spanish. Let me know if you are interested and what languages you are talking about and I will see what I can come up with.

Should you look for something and not find it let me know and I will help you.

♥ Sandi ❣ | 617 comments I am gonna add this article here simply becuase it covers so many books to adaptation . ALL of Emily Henry's books have been picked up for either a series or movies. This article is older - from 2023 - so I will start to scout out what is happening with each of her 5 books and see where they stand. Each one is being developed and produced by a different company, so I am sure they are all in different areas of production. I will post them individually as I find more info on them.
