So is the standard now that on the old version of the book page only the embedded genre (words following >) is considered as the MPG since the parent genre may not be on the new page?
I tried to find something about this in the rules but could only find how to determine MPG from the new page (not a change in what people with the old page should look at.)

The Dark is Rising"
sorry, mythology is not showing as a main page genre."
Hmm, this appears to be one of those new/old pages deals. I was on the old version and it was Mythology>Arthurian, I believe. But today I have new version and see it's listed only as Arthurian.

I'm on the old page--today-- and you are correct...it's showing mythology>arthurian. I wish GR would make up their mind and get us all on the same "page"..no pun intended LOL

See Robin's post above?
So, does that mean it's locked now, Sandy? That would be great!

we are not going to rewrite the rules while GR is still in flux. It's apparent that everyone needs to understand that they are flipping back and forth - I have flipped at least 3 times since I first was flipped in August.
This has been discussed before, and it has been pointed out that in the new form, the genre is the one after the >, not the parent genre. Since I am on the new book page, I will be working with that - and since the genre after the > is what transfers to the new page, that's what you're going to have to use.

No."
I accept your interpretation, but wanted to point out that some of us flip often, so never know when we'll see either version. Frankly, mine flips almost every day! Yesterday I was new, today I'm old, etc. So it makes it hard to keep up.
The embedded subject it is. I've just never been sure that this was consistent either.

If you see the new GR book detail page, you may click "..more" to display up to 10 genres.
The "see all" genre list will not be used for SRC tasks.
A book need only be verified once in the thread - then it can be used by any participant in the Winter 2022 challenge.
Please do not post task-specific questions here ("is this cover green enough?") and other such questions.
If you are planning to use a book for a genre task and fear that the genre may disappear, post a link to the book in this thread. We will not "lock in" the lack of a childrens or kids genre on the main page.
When you post your book, if the genres have changed, just link to the post in this thread in which it was verified and you'll be good to go.
Because of the volume of verification requests in this thread, I will not be trying to compile any sort of master lists. If the book you are using does not have the required genre at the time of posting, but has been verified in this thread, please link to the post in which it was verified in your completed task posting. If the book you are posting still has the genre on the main page, there is no need to refer to any posts here or in other help threads - if it's there on the main page, you're all set.
