Former deputy sheriff Matt Flynn inserts himself into the investigation as he’s Justin’s best friend, working in partnership with Bree. Todd Harvey, the acting sheriff, welcomes their help. Would Todd have included them if the circumstances were different and there was a permanent sheriff in place? How did they work as a team (Matt & Bree, Matt & Bree working with Todd, Todd working with them)?

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I was actually surprised that Todd welcomed their help. I think Todd only took the acting position until they could fill the sheriff's position. I don't think he had any intention of taking the permanent job if it was offered. Therefore, he didn't have anything to prove and could take any help that was offered.

The three of them worked well together. Todd wasn't continually berating them for possibly keeping information to themselves. He knew he could trust them.

~Melissa~ | 429 comments I wasn't very surprised that Todd accepted their help. I figured he was in over his head since he was just a 'figure head' until a new Sheriff could be put in place. They seemed to work out ok together. I think if anyone had the bigger problem it was Matt seeing as he is still not sure where everyone lies with the old Sheriff and the fact that he was shot while on duty by a fellow officer following Sheriffs orders. Totally sketchy

Todd asking them for help and sharing info was a clear sign he didn’t want to be sheriff! He did a great job in managing them as consultants, never really crossing any lines.

I thought Bree and Matt’s working relationship was even better given that he made it clear he wasn’t jumping on the “Justin is guilty” bandwagon and she was equally clear that she was as convinced he was innocent. They were very professional in their teamwork and execution.

Bree & Matt walked a fine line in how they decided what to share with Todd. It was tricky but I think they used good judgment without being out of bounds.
