Wow! So where should we start off in this story?

message 10: by QUE: (new)

QUE: | 21 comments Mm.. Maybe it's like a ball or some kind of get-together. Damion was invited and that's where he sees how the host is treating Rose. No one else did anything so he decided to take the situation into his own hands... What you think?

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Ooh I like it! Perhaps she is one of the slaves at the big fancy ball - what time period is this? Like medieval with horses and carriages and kings/queens? Or more modern with cars and stuff (and still can have balls and parties)?

message 12: by QUE: (new)

QUE: | 21 comments Mmm!!! Good question..! Lol, think I am feeling medieval more for this.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Great! I like that better anyway :) Do you think you could start us off?

“Do I have to do this?” Damion asked as he sat in his carriage in front of a huge castle. Rosa nodded she had been the family advisor for years. “The other kingdoms are starting to talk. Saying you are nothing but a blood-thrust king that no one sees anymore,” she said. Damion rolled his eyes and sighed he wasn't the type of man to take what others said about him as long as they were smart enough to say it behind his back. But he also was smart and knew that even though his kingdom is the longest and strongest he didn't want another war to back out. His people have lost enough loved ones in the pasted. “Fine but let's make this quick,” he said and Rosa nodded with a smirk before speaking. “Yes, your Highness.”

Damion opened his carriage door and stepped down. He held out a hand for Rosa, and when she took it he helped her off the carriage before they were greeted by servants. Damion gave a warm smile and handshake to each one as he walked passed them. They opened the huge door for him and Rosa. Rosa grabbed onto Damion's arm pulling him slightly down to her height, she brought her lips to his ear. “You should try to look for you a queen while we are here,” she said and Damion reacted the same way he use to have a child. He shook his head as he raised back up. “Don't need one of those.” he said with a slight frown that soon faded.

Rose stood in her clean, simple dress in the large dining hall of the castle. Before the ball that night, they were to have a huge feast as a welcome meal for the great king visiting from the nearby kingdom. They did not want a war, so having a simple arrangement like this would do them both good.

Rose was just a slave, dressed for the occasion, but otherwise ignored. She would be serving the many guests tonight, and as usual, she knew she would be under the watchful eye of the host, Baron Alastair Selfridge's eyes. Alastair was an evil man towards his slaves, stern and eager to punish. Rose was afraid of him but there was nothing she could do.

Soon the guests began arriving, and other higher up servants ushered them into the dining hall where they began to take seats and converse amongst each other. Rose took up a spot nearby, ready to step forward to fill glasses of wine, juice, water, amongst other drinks they might want.

Finally, the king arrived with his company and the guests greeted him respectfully. All the slaves were meant to bow, and Rose felt Alastair's gaze burning into her back. She curtsied low to the king, holding her position until the slaves were meant to rise.

"Welcome, King Damion," the baron said warmly, smiling at the man. "It is a great pleasure to have you here amongst us tonight, and I hope you enjoy yourself. If there is anything you wish, please ask myself or the servants. Please, a seat for you," he offered, pulling out a chair for the king.

QUE: | 21 comments > LOL. It was really a last minute thought and I thought it it would make sense he has to have some type of power if he is going to stand up to someone who has slave/servant, you know..

message 20: by QUE: (new)

QUE: | 21 comments Only been here for less than two seconds and Damion was already ready to go. This wasn't his scenery, ever since he was a child Damion hated balls or even little get-togethers that take him out of his kingdom. He gave smiles and waves walking with Beatrice by his side. He noticed a girl servant or for some reason stood out to him for a slight second before she bowed to him. He said nothing and greeted her slightly like how he did the others. He listened to the baron as did Beatrice.

Damion pulled out a chair for Beatrice before he sat in the chair that baron pulled out for him. He leaned forward on the table. Beatrice looked at him and slapped his elbows off the table. “Behavior yourself,” she whispered. He moved his elbows and nodded before he glanced around until his eyes locked onto the gil from before. He shrugged his shoulders. “You... Can you get us some white whine.?” He said. Then looked at Beatrice and sighed. “Well for me at least.” He said fixing his last statement.

((Oh no problem. Sounds good!))

"Of course, Great King," Rose said softly, curtsying low to him again before bringing over a pitcher of their best white wine. She poured his glass full and stepping back respectfully.

"You, girl," the baron gestured for Rose to come to his side. He had that look on his face that Rose dreaded so much, the one where he seemed to want something she couldn't offer. Usually that meant he would be angry with her later. "Get me some wine. My best red." He smirked, reaching a hand towards her and tapping her hip lightly. Rose shied away from his hand and quickly served him his desired wine.

"So, King Damion," Baron Alastair said, happily sipping his drink, "how are things in your Kingdom? You know we are open to help; goods, men, horses, protection. You and I are good working together."

Beatrice noticed Alastair tap on the young servant's hip she raised an eyebrow but said nothing. Even though Damion let her speak freely, other kingdoms only saw her as a servant and knew if she spoke out that it would only make it harder on Damion. So she sighed and just played with the food in front of herself. Damion hadn't noticed he was too busy sipping on his white wine. But he did free when he heard a skin to skin connect but he didn't see anything. Just the girl doing as told, when he looked at Beatrice. Now she seemed troubled to him but knew she would tell him once they were leaving.

“Sit straight and breath calm no matter what happens to remain relaxed and calm.” Damion's father Xavier said as he taught his only child how to handle talking to other royalty. “Like this dad?!” shouted an excited young Damion. King Xavier nodded and patted his son on the head and gave a soft smile.

Damion raised an eyebrow and looked at Baton once his name was spoken. Before anything else came out of the man's mouth. Damion knew what was about to be said. But he let the man speak without interrupting, he listened and nodded as his father taught him. “My kingdom is great, and as for help.. There is a reason why my kingdom is the only one that's never had to deal with starvation or any laws being broken.” He said not realizing how that might have sounded. Until Beatrice softly kicked his ankle under the table. Damion groaned and sighed. “But I will let you know if we need anything. And you make sure you do the same, sir.” He said as he glanced over at Beatrice looking for approval. She didn't make any noise or hit him under the table so he took that as meaning he fixed himself at least a little.

The baron scoffed somewhat and shook his head. "Of course. We will check in with you in case we do require any assistance. Girl, come introduce yourself to the king."

Rose swallowed but walked over. Standing nearby the Baron and the King, she froze in place and could not for the life of her get a single word out. The Baron was evil. He treated Rose badly around guests, attempting to humiliate her because he knew she was afraid of him, and treating her worse when it was just the two of them.

"Curtsy. Tell him your name. Tell him what your favorite thing to do is," the Baron said, his light voice fraudulent. He smiled coldly at her.

Rose's breathing became faster and faster and still she remained frozen in place. She could not make herself.

"I asked you to do something," he said sweetly.

QUE: | 21 comments Damion nodded as he picked up his glass and put it to his mouth. The Baron got his attention when he called over the girl, the one that had gotten his attention from the start. He raised an eyebrow at the girl as she walked over to The Baron. She was young and from the way, she looked she was afraid. Damion treated all his servants with respect as his mother taught him. They were human too, low rank or higher didn't matter. “We all bleed the same. And if it wasn't for them and our village people we would just be normal humans like them so show them why they picked our bloodline.” His mother's voice played in his head. “She is fine, she seems nervous.” He said placing his glass down frame onto the table not breaking eye contact with the girl. Something wasn't right about the situation. “Young lady, can you go get me some bread.” He said, as he motioned his head to the kitchen door.

Rose looked towards the visiting king and, still afraid, did feel something like relief flood over her. But at the same time, it was only temporary as she would be punished later for her disobedience. "Y-yes, Great King." With that, she took the chance and scurried away like a timid mouse back to her hole. When she left, the Baron looked at the King with a displeased expression. "Does the meal not satisfy you?" He asked curiously.

((Okay, thanks for letting me know :) ))

message 30: by QUE: (new)

QUE: | 21 comments Damion had enough of watching the girl treated inhumanly. He decided to take her home with him and the Baron couldn’t really say no. Well- he could but Damion was the type to take things by force. So if the Baron didn’t want some nameless knights to be killed in a blink of an eye he would just let Damion walk out with the servant girl. Which he did of course a couple of words were shared but nothing neither haven’t heard from each other before.

Damion, Beatrice and the servant girl now made their way back to Rage Kingdom. It was silent at first which Beatrice found unsettling. “So dear what is your name?” She asked as she placed her hand onto the young girls knee but then quickly moved it. Realizing that she might have just made her uncomfortable. Beatrice was glad that Damion stepped in when he did. Seeing the sighs that something wasn’t right. “I am Beatrice, me and my girls will help you get settled into your new kingdom.” She stated.

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

Rose, now sitting in the comfortable covered carriage, huddled fearfully against the side. Her dark eyes were big with fear. When her hand did brush against her knee, the young girl flinched and only relaxed somewhat once it was taken off. "I'm Rose," she whispered, glancing around at the others sitting in the carriage, clearly terrified out of her wits. She was gone from the evil baron who mistreated her, but she didn't know these people and didn't trust them one bit.

message 32: by QUE: (new)

QUE: | 21 comments "Rose.." Damion repeated softly as he looked over at her. Like if he was seeing if her name watched her face. He tilted and then nodded before turning his glare back out the window. Beatrice sighed and shacked her head playfully. It wasn't long before the carriage made its way through a large but quit village the people stopped and waved with warm smiles welcoming back their king. He smiled and waved back at them. Even though Damion was seen to the outside as to be a cold-blooded human. His people saw him for what he really was, a man who never wanted to become king but still gave his people and his kingdom is whole heart. Soon the carriage stopped in front of a huge and beautiful castle. "Welcome to your new home.." he said softly as he opened his own door and stepped out like he did earlier that night. He held out his hand to help Beatrice out the carriage and once she was out. He held out his hand for Rose as well.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

Rose didn't speak the entire rest of the way to the castle. The others made small talk, but not much else. When they stopped in front of the castle and climbed off, Rose hesitated for a long time, watching Damion with his extended hand. She was nervous to even look at him for long, let alone take his hand. It's just his hand, he's offering it to you. He was gentle with the other woman. She bit her lip and finally slipped her own, smaller hand into his, stepping down into the sunshine. Once on the cobblestones, she drew her hand back to herself and looked around fearfully. It was time to go inside, and all she could think of was the way she was treated at the other castle, although that one had been much less grand.

message 34: by QUE: (new)

QUE: | 21 comments Damion noticed how she hesitated to take his hand. He could have rushed her or even just left her to get down on her own. But he wasn't that type of king his servants were part of his family just like his villagers. Damion let her let go of his hand once she was firmly on the ground. "Come." he said softly as he started to walk, Beatrice walked behind him. Once at the front door, they opened and his servants welcomed him home. "We thought you were going to be gone for much longer than that, your majesty." Said one of them as they took Damion's jacket. Damion shook his head before he spoke. "You know how I feel about a events and plus, he is the same as he was before.. But never mind that we have a new addition to the family.. Rose, meet everyone, everyone meet Rose." he stated as he stepped aside so everyone could see her. Beatrice walked off from the crowd to get Rose's room ready.

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

"Welcome, Rose!" several people said at once. There was a small amount of clapping, and Rose glanced at Damion, wanting to shrink back away from the crowd. Ever since she was a child, she hated crowds. And any time she was forced to be a part of one, she forgot how to speak and could only think about how the Baron would punish her after for making a mistake. What if Damion would do the same? He was a big man with lots of power.
"I'm Jean," said one plump lady, stepping forward and smiling kindly at Rose. She was older, her hair worn up in a silvery bun. "You'll be well taken care of here."

message 36: by QUE: (new)

QUE: | 21 comments Damion noticed that Beatrice had walked off. Knowing her like the back of his hand, he assumed that she went to go step up Rose's room. "She will be mine personal servant. Jean, I want you to make sure she understands the work that comes with that." He stated before looking at Rose. "Once your room is ready Beatrice and Jean will be more than happy to show you where it is. " He added before giving her a soft smile and walking away. Damion hadn't had a personal servant since he was child. Someone to get him ready for a shower, have his clothes out for him for every event, etc. Damion went to his study to get caught up on his paperwork.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

"Of course, Your Majesty," Jean curtseyed respectfully. She smiled at him as he headed off, and turned to the girl. "Well, shall we head to your room? Beatrice is already there making sure it is all ready for you. Come along, dear," she said, and led the way from the crowd of servants. Rose followed obediently along and they eventually came to Rose's very own room. Showing her around, the young woman seemed shocked that she'd get a room all to herself, and one so lovely as this. "Thank you," Rose said softly. She smoothed a hand over her bedspread.

message 38: by QUE: (new)

QUE: | 21 comments It had been a few hours since Damion closed himself into his study. He always seemed to get lost in his duties. He hardly slept in his own bed. He sighed as he lifted his head off his desk. He rubbed the back of his neck and groaned as stretched his neck, trying to relief the pain from him sleeping wrong. He looked down at his paperwork and sighed softly as he leaned forward and started working again.

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

Hours passed, and Rose had settled in somewhat to her new home. Jean showed her the bathroom and let her shower for as long as she needed, providing clean comfortable clothes to wear after. Then she ran through a few rules of the castle, all of which Rose had no problem with. If it meant she wouldn't be beaten, she'd obey. Then Jean explained to Rose what her role in the castle would be; Damion's personal servant. After some time, Rose knocked on Damion's study door and waited nervously for the man to invite her in. She'd see what he wanted her to do.

message 40: by QUE: (new)

QUE: | 21 comments Damion looked up at the door and sighed thinking it was Beatrice knocking he sat back. “Come in.” He said, he was shocked that it was Rose. “Oh, you.. So do you like your room?” He asked with a head tilt.

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

Rose stepped inside the office and glanced around at the shelves of many books and finally over at Damion. "Yes, thank you, Your Majesty," she said shyly, standing just inside by the door. "Miss Beatrice and Miss Jean told me that I am to be your personal servant. Is there anything I may do for you?"

message 42: by QUE: (new)

QUE: | 21 comments Damion nodded with a smile. "I am glad." he said under his breath, almost as a whisper. He raised an eyebrow and glanced around then shrugged before he spoke. "Not at the moment, If you want you may stay for company." he said, his tone almost made it sound like a question. He motioned his head towards his giant built-in bookcase. "May grab one and take a sit. I usually stay in here planning out things for hours.." he said with more confidents in his voice. He wasn't really sure what he wanted to do with her. But he was sure he couldn't let her stay where she was before. Being treated like she was before.

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

Rose glanced over to the bookshelf stuffed to the brim with books. She pulled one down and studied its heavy hardcover binding. It was a beautiful book, but when she opened the cover and flipped to the first page, she realized she couldn't really read it. When she was younger, she hadn't had much of a chance to learn and most of learning had been denied her. As the years went on and as she grew up, a few of the servants she had been around had attempted to teach her but she hadn't gotten far. So her reading was bad and she didn't recognize most words. She took a seat as instructed and held the book on her lap. "I can't read this too well," she said hesitantly, in case he was hoping for her to read out loud to him.

message 44: by QUE: (new)

QUE: | 21 comments Damion watched as she walked over to the bookshelf before he focused back onto the map and loads of paper in front of him. But when she spoke her words got his attention. He raised his head and stared at her for a moment before he nodded. “Come bring it here.” He stated. He patted his desk to let her know to put it down. “Grab that chair and bring it over here.” He added, he never tried to teach anyone how to read before but he was going to try at least.

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

Rose carried the book to the large wooden desk and set it down, then returned for the chair. Scooting in close beside him, Rose settled in and waited patiently as he seemed to gather himself. Maybe he was going to read to her, or, though she would hardly believe it if he did, teach her how to read! Rose had never had a master who wished to teach her all on their own.

message 46: by QUE: (new)

QUE: | 21 comments Damion moved everything aside. And watched as she did as she was told but it was in a good way, he smirked and once she was ready he faced the book towards her. He made sure it was at the first page before he pointed at the first word. “We will start from the beginning.. Do you know this word?” Damion stated, all his servants knew how to read. He knew most kingdoms didn’t allow such things but he didn’t mind them knowing how to do things like reading, writing and even reading a map.

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

Rose studied the word for a few seconds, then felt her face burning as it turned bright red and heated up. "Um...I'm not sure," she admitted, then attempted to sound it out. "On...Oh... I don't know. I'm sorry," she said, shaking her head. Surely it was just her nerves getting to her, trying to read for the King of all people when she was sure that anyone else would have no problem doing so.
