Ric quits the force following a shootout where the suspects were unnecessarily gunned down and Detective Bobby Donofrio was gleeful about it. After Ric attacked Donofrio, he turned in his shield. What did you make of that scene? Did you understand at the time why Ric quit?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments There were rumors in the department that something wasn't right. Ric knows it and didn't want to stick around to try to fix it. It was oblivious that Bobby Donofrio was a problem, but he was protected by higher ups. I understood why Ric quit. He didn't feel he could fix what was wrong with the department and didn't want to be complacent in what was going on.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1803 comments Ric's actions were understandable. He couldn't work in an environment where killing suspects was commonplace, acceptable, and even rejoiced over.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I agree. Ric couldn't sit back and watch Donofrio and cops of that ilk get away with murder.

Donofrio was from that old school mold and seemed to be accepted by those in leadership. Look at what his lieutenant asked of him after the fight…go apologize to Donofrio. If Ric hadn’t already made up his mind to leave, that would have done it.

I completely understood Ric’s decision to leave. You stay if you think you can be a means to change. That wasn’t going to happen there so move on. Shame on the lieutenant as she knew Ric was one of her best and she let him go.
