Jules and Robin’s first encounter in his hotel room was pretty explosive when Jules’ intention was to warn him of his undercover assignment. Robin acknowledges (to himself) that he’s in love with Jules and Jules is in a closeted relationship with Ben Webster who’s ready for a commitment. However, Dolphina shows up and it feels like the Robin from their earlier encounters two years ago. Did this feel doomed in the moment or could you see the possibilities of these two?

It definitely had a star-crossed lovers vibe.

For some reason it didn't feel doomed to me. I had a sense that Robin had to work out what he wanted more --the safety of the man created for Hollywood, or Jules. I believed that Jules would win in the end.

It didn't feel doomed to me. Robin knew he had to choose between Jules or staying in the closet for his career. He wasn't ready to make that choice upon seeing Jules again. It took him a little time to reason everything out.

It didn't feel doomed to me, either. Knowing how many chances Jules gave Adam, it was clear to me that he would be willing to give Robin the same opportunity. This needed to play out as it did so that Robin could accept who he was and be open about his identity.

At first I thought we’d go down that non communication rabbit hole but then I realized how committed Robin was to getting Jules and figured they’d find their way.
