Malcolm X was assassinated on Feb 21, 1965. His teachings and writing were very influential in the lives of both Ta-Nehisi and Paul Coates. The book discusses what his life and death meant to both of them. Malcolm X's speech, The Ballot or the Bulllet, was an important part of Ta-Nehisi Coates rise in consciousness.

Amy and I both gave this one 5 stars. In her review, she talks about how the characters touch one another and binds them together. The book also gives many people the chance to be bound together when they read it.... and isn't that what Amy and PBT do best!
