1. The 26th of November: A Pride and Prejudice Comedy of Farcical Proportions https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4... 5 stars. A very enjoyable story with a unique path to HEA. I loved Elizabeth's way of puzzling out her predicament and how her interactions with Darcy improved every time.
2. No more roving https://archiveofourown.org/works/396... 3.5 stars. Elizabeth is a rare breed of human with wings who are enslaved in England. When Mr.Bennet dies, his wife sells her daughter to the Earl of Matlock for gifting his mourning nephew. A very sweet story with a very honorable Darcy and a vulnerable Elizabeth. Needs some proper editing.

Darcy and Elizabeth are rare humans who are able to meet, interact and befriend their soulmate through their dreams. So Darcy knows Elizabeth since his mother's death when she walks into his dream. They grow up together both thinking the other to he a figment of their imagination. This makes for a very interesting assembly meeting.
7. An Untoward circumstance https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9675302/0/ 4 stars. Lydia gets attacked and murdered on the morning after the Netherfield ball by an unknown assailant. So, Collins's proposal gets disrupted, the news reaches Bingley and Darcy through the footman who brought Caroline's message which prompts Bingley's return. Though the attack is not described directly, the impact on the family is quite angsty. How the Bennets recover and how the community with the help of Bingley, Darcy and the Colonel discover the murderer forms this really long story. The story does slow down a bit in the middle but catches up to speed in the end. The author promises a few more one shots to fill in missing parts separately. As an aside, why in most stories the elder brother of the Colonel, the Viscount, a reprobate (a few exceptions like Lord Saye exist)? Is it because secretly most of the fans want the Colonel to succeed his father? Food for thought!
8. An Untoward circumstance - chapter 32 https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10245630/0/ 5 stars. This is an April fool prank version of the 32nd chapter of the previous story. Quite funny and enjoyable!
9. Like a sister https://archiveofourown.org/works/113... 4 stars. This is a sweet variation. Georgiana and Elizabeth become friends in London before Bingley comes to Hertfordshire. ODC's path is not the only different one but there are a few surprising twists.
10. Pride and Prejudice at the Bennet Bakery: A sweet contemporary gender swapped retelling of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6... 4 stars. A modern gender reversal variation. Gender reversal is quite tricky, a marriage minded mama, entailed estate, couple of elopements, a knight in shining armour rescue are not so easy to fit in a reversed scenario which this author actually manages pretty well. A quick and interesting read.

11. All the particulars https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12726173/0/ 4 stars. What if Darcy didn't have all the relevant information while advising Bingley about Jane? I loved Elizabeth, she was fiery, loyal and so loveable. You would want to have her on your side in any conflict. Wish the story was longer though.
12. The green ball https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12726410/0/ 4 stars. A funnily horrifying one shot. Miss Bingley decides to go an extra mile to make her ball memorable to the native savages and Mr. Darcy. But her plans bring about very unexpected results.
13. Revelations at Rosings https://archiveofourown.org/works/435... 4 stars. A sweet story with little angst. What if the Colonel had revealed more helpful (to his cousin) details to Elizabeth than the reason behind Bingley's desertion of Jane? This helps ODC along nicely but Elizabeth has more difficulty overcoming her prejudice than Darcy his pride.
14. To love again https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14100791/0/ 5 stars. A remarkable, angsty story. Elizabeth doesn't go on tour to Pemberley and so when Lydia elopes, no one is there to help them and when she returns abandoned and pregnant, the family is completely ruined. Then Elizabeth decides to go to Pemberley to see Darcy but he's already married to his cousin. From there the path to their HEA is so uncertain and rocky and when it happens so sweet.

20. Adventures at Morecastle https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9281150/0/ 5 stats. A very sweet story. Before Darcy's proposal at Hunsford, Elizabeth leaves Kent to accompany her uncle and aunt Gardiner to Morecastle for her nephew's recovery. Darcy is disappointed and when Bingley needs his help to secure a house at the same town, coincidentally, for his sister, they meet the eldest Bennet sisters and the courting begins albeit an accident prone one. Very enjoyable and the epilogue is LOL funny!

21. Luck changes the game https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11644639... 4.5 stars. What if luck switches side to Darcy regarding Elizabeth while Wickham enters our story. His courtship is smoother and his attitude altered by his own perspective and Wickham? I loved what the author did with him and I'm sure Jeanne, as my co-Wickham-hater will enjoy this story especially the beginning.
22. The Biter bit https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12194153/0/ 5 stars. One shot. Wickham thought it'll be easier to blackmail a Bennet sister instead of eloping with another to make money. Well, he thought wrong!
23. An ill wind that blows some good https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11765316/0/ 5 stars. This one shot is for my fellow Caroline haters. Lydia gets flu at Brighton which prevents her from being out in the society which incidentally saves her from Wickham. At the same time, Caroline reaches Pemberley determined to get Darcy but comes to know of her rival's presence in the proximity. When Elizabeth visits Pemberley she's determined to prove that she's as if not more suitable to be a country mistress than Elizabeth but unfortunately proves to be her downfall, pun intended.
24. For the Love of a Bennet: All Go to Brighton, A Pride and Prejudice Variation https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6... 4 stars. An interesting plot with much potential but could've used some more attention to detail.

What if Mrs.Bennet gave a proper (though confusing for Jane and disturbing for Elizabeth) wedding night talk to her eldest daughters? Mrs. Bennet manages to give horrific mental pictures about her parents to Elizabeth and poor Jane doesn't understand much.

27. Welcome to the family https://www.fanfiction.net/s/7125597/0/ 5 stars. Funny one shot. A week before their wedding Bennets have a chat with their future sons in law about their daughters's happiness. I wonder if they had this talk with Wickham.
28. The baby https://www.fanfiction.net/s/6666801/0/ 5 stars. This is a very touching one shot from Lydia's POV. A concise account of her thoughts about her family, her marriage and her life. Even the worst Lydia haters will feel a bit of sympathy for her.
29. Unexpected https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10092334/0/ 4 stars. Another Lydia story. This was sad as well as sweet.
30. A timely intervention https://archiveofourown.org/works/424... 4.5 stars. A small change leads to a great deviation from the original. When Elizabeth escapes to Oakham mount Collins's proposal, he chases after her. When Darcy finds a distressed Elizabeth repeatedly refusing Collins, he not only comes to her rescue but offers to assist her home and Elizabeth gets to see a better side of him and the conversation reveals many things to Darcy. A well written story with plausible flow and no OOC behaviour.

31. Pride and Prejudice https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... 5 stars. January read. After a long time and many fanfictions later, I read the original and realized why we are all so crazy about this lady's works and particularly this one.
32. Taken: A Pride & Prejudice Variation https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5... 3.5 stars. The core story was good but like an octopus there were so many tentacles which diverts you and doesn't let you focus on what's actually interesting and relevant.
33. Read into it what you want https://www.fanfiction.net/s/5159669/0/ 4 stars. Modern variation. Elizabeth is a writer and a book critic and Darcy owns a publishing company and is also a writer who writes fluffy romance under his cousin's name. They are attracted to each other from the beginning but misunderstandings keep cropping up by their own or other's actions. We don't get to see much of the Bennets. Mr. Bennet is dead (I guess), Mrs.Bennet makes a brief appearance in the beginning to spoil Darcy's impression of Elizabeth and Lydia makes an appearance in the end for the final twist. I felt the courtship was not given much written space than the problems so the resolution felt a bit abrupt. I could've liked some more fluff.

William Darcy is lured into his roommate's party with a promise of a Brownie which happened to be doctored. When his fatigue combined with the "brownie" brings him down only one other person notices abd helps. Guess who?

37. Northanger Abbey https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5... 5+ stars. I can't believe I didn't read this book till now. This was so much fun. I loved the satirical narration and really liked Catherine. She's as unlike Elizabeth Bennet as anyone can be. I think she's more like Kitty Bennet, naive, dramatic and easily led. But she's really sweet and Henry is a perfect foil for her. I never thought I could hate anyone more than Caroline Bingley but Isabella proved me wrong. Overall, a very happy read.
38. The History of England https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... 4 stars. A funny and very disrespectful account of history from the viewpoint of a teenager. This just proves that irrespective of era, teenagers will be teenagers.
39. Henry: A Pride & Prejudice Novella https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4... 5+ stars. Re-read. Very sweet novella with Darcy's puppy, Henry, pulling an Emma.
40. A Splendidly (Un)suitable Match https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5... 5 stars. A fun read. I love stories with Darcy and Elizabeth developing friendship before falling in love. I especially loved the interactions between Elizabeth and Caroline. Thankfully, the Kent party is absent.

Great List, abmon. I'm currently reading Northanger Abbey and caught myself laughing. What fun.

I know Jeanne. I don't know why but I hated Isabella from the minute I encountered her in the story. She sort of gave Caroline like vibes and I liked Henry. He was a perfect mix of Darcy's honorableness(?) and Elizabeth's cheekiness. Catherine felt similar to Kitty Bennet, her naivety, being easily led and at the same time she was sweet. And I really like that Austen actually saw that her heroine is not really a true heroine when she acknowledges that Henry's love initiated from her fascination of him and not because of anything special he saw in her. She was a really smart woman and understood love and marriage better despite remaining single.

Hah! I love this. Yes, Isabella Thorpe is awful, isn't she? I read this novel aloud to my daughter last year (she was 11 at the time), and she immediately recognized Isabella as a schemer. I guess Catherine missed out by not going to an American middle school. Nothing like being stuck with a bunch of young adolescents for 8 hours a day to learn more about human nature!

I know Christina, which makes it all the more amazing how our dear Austen had such understanding of human nature. She portrays such a variety of characters in her books with a spectrum of characteristics with such a limited exposure she would have had at that time.

41. Nine Ladies: A Pride and Prejudice Variation https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5... 5 stars. I loved this story. I've read Affectionate hearts by this author which I loved and it's the same with this story though both belong to two different realms in every way. Time travel stories are tricky and this author manages it very well.
42. One Winter's Ball: A Pride and Prejudice Christmas Story https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5... 3 stars. I liked the course of this story but when the author ended it abruptly especially hinting at a turbulent future it didn't sit well with me. There had been stories which hinted at a future HEA for ODC when a friendship is developing but if you're going to talk about trouble you better resolve it, is my way of thinking.
43. Dearest Friends https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... 3.5 rounded to 4 stars. This is a not so nice Jane story, in fact, it's a not so nice Bennets, except Mary and of course Elizabeth, story. Elizabeth is brought to London after Netherfield ball when she rejects Collins proposal and her parents and Jane press her to accept him. There she meets Darcy who had been pining for her and they get to an understanding quickly (too quickly, it felt to me). I like the Viscount of this story, he felt a bit like our dear Saye.No Wickham, yes to a nasty Caroline but a good natured Lady Catherine. The main thing I I didn't like was the numerous intimacies described in detail which actually slowed the tempo of the story and I had to skip through pages of them to get backnto the flow. If only the author had edited some of them out, this would've been a great story.
44. Family Portraits: A Dearest Friends Continuation https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... 5 stars. This is the sequel to the previous story and it's exactly as that should have been. This is not exactly clean but the flow and tempo of the story wss maintained without distractions and was more enjoyable.
45. Sometimes a great notion https://dwiggie.com/derby/olde/judyly... 4 stars. On the way to Kent, when Elizabeth stops at London for a few days she meets her friend Olivia Crenshaw. When she learns the reason behind Jane's heartbreak, decides to do something about it and takes Elizabeth for a stroll in the park near Bingley's residence. This results in an accidental (non)meeting with Darcy and the Colonel and a real meeting with Bingley and thus bringing him back to Jane. The events following this actually softens Elizabeth towards Darcy and she comes to suspect that Darcy doesn't dislike her but probably the opposite. Then she leaves for Kent and Darcy and the Colonel follow her there unknowingly. Now I was curious how Hunsford will go because Jane and Bingley are together, Elizabeth is not quite ignorant of Darcy's regard, she herself feel something like attraction towards him and the Colonel is not going to confess Darcy's interference because he's aware of his cousin's interest and the identity of Bingley's lady. And you know what the author did, she just skipped the entire Hunsford period. I had to go back and forth a few times to confirm that. One page Darcy and the Colonel are getting ready to depart to Kent and the next Elizabeth is crying her heart out over rejecting Darcy at Longbourn. At first, I couldn't understand what was happening. I thought may be it'll be a flashback but a few pages down when Darcy confesses he had no idea about Elizabeth's knowledge of his interference, I understood. The author probably had started this WIP without much planning and when she reached Hunsford realized that Elizabeth has no genuine reason to reject Darcy and having no idea what to do just took a huge leap. This actually amused me so much that I finished the story and actually liked it.
46. An Inn-cidental Compromise https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5... 4 stars. This is a bawdy story with extremely OOC and implausible behaviour by ODC. An exhibitionist Darcy and an "oh, my!"ing Elizabeth were quite irritating. But if you could overcome it (I nearly didn't), the story is very funny, even LOL worthy at places. Not everyone's cup of tea.
47. Trapped at Rosings: A Pride and Prejudice Variation https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4... 5 stars. A beautiful story in which everyone got their die, good or bad. I loved the pace of ODC's courtship. Though it was frustrating in the beginning, it was so sweet and the end will make you sigh in satisfaction.
48. The Gentlemen Are Detained: A Pride and Prejudice Short Story https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5... 5 stars. For a novella with so few pages, the angst rating was really high. When you cross the middle point of the story and find ODC still struggling to communicate but promptly misunderstanding each other, you just want to drag them off like kindergarteners to make them resolve their differences. But the sweetness of the end makes up for it.
49. I Am Jael: A Pride and Prejudice Variation https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5... 5 stars. This author's book is always different. Her stories have a religious tint but they are not preachy. Her heroines are always strong like Georgiana in this book. She doesn't just make sure her villain gets his due but also inspires her cousin to stand up for herself.
50. I Have Been Jaeled: A Pride and Prejudice Variation https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5... 4 stars. This is Wickham's POV of the previous story and it was a disturbing place to be to say the least and unexpectedly I felt some pity at the end.

51. Remember, you wanted this: or 'Be careful what you ask for'. A Collection of P&P Variations https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5... 4 stars. Well, the author does warn you to be careful what you wish for and I did wish to read this book. Just joking! I enjoyed most of the stories even those that ended without a HEA for ODC but it's the last two stories during which I felt the warning to be apt. Darcy and Charlotte was a bit toooo much for me (not a spoiler as the author mentions it at the beginning of the story) and the last one rubbed me wrong on so many levels, I can't say more without giving it away.
52. Very artful people https://www.dwiggie.com/derby/janetr7... 5 stars. Amusing short story. When Charlotte returns to Lucas lodge after being widowed she comes to know the equally widowered(?) Mr. Bennet is seen dancing at assemblies while old men in the neighborhood are marrying and fathering children, she fears for her son's inheritance. Artful as the Lucases are, as Mrs. Bennet says, she decides to do something about it and it sort of works out for her.
53. The Godparents https://www.fanfiction.net/s/14164633/0/ 5 stars. I love this author's stories. After Hunsford Darcy sends Bingley to Hertfordshire but he himself doesn't return and Lydia didn't elope(yay!). While returning home from Caroline's marriage, Jane and Charles Bingley meet with an accident leaving their twins behind. Elizabeth and Darcy being their godparents, want to raise them and this paves a way towards their own HEA. The slow coming together was well written and very believable. Sweet story!

58. Branches of denial https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10453970... 3 stars. This is more about 1995 movie. What if Elizabeth had given into her impulse when left alone with Darcy's bust in the gallery at Pemberley and was witnessed?

60. In the depth of winter https://www.fanfiction.net/s/5350360/0/ 5 stars. A very short, 4 chapter, but angsty story. Elizabeth meets with an accident while planning a winter enjoyment with her new husband. The story was very heartwrenching but beautifully written.
61. Of family https://www.fanfiction.net/s/5768299/0/ 5 stars. This story revolves around the conception and birth of the first Darcy child. Lovely writing. Whether it's fun or angst, the author is very talented in writing it and make you feel it too.
62. Life in snatches https://www.fanfiction.net/s/6876268/0/ 5+ stars. This is a collection of very sweet and cute, even touching, one shots about the Darcys prevand mostly post marriage. Very heartwarming. From 59 to 62 are the stories by the same author and though I didn't, I feel it would be better to read it in this order, at least the last three.
63. Mrs. Bennet's Favorite Daughter https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5... 2 stars. This is one of the blandest book I ever tried to read, tried because I couldn't get myself to finish it. A well behaved Bennets should actually be interesting but they were not. Collins came with all the fanfare and more arrogance but his actions were too detailed and repetitive they became boring. Caroline was her usual vapid self but even that got boring, every other person who entered Hertfordshire, transformed so much that everyone became boring and tontop it all off, nothing interesting happened. This story was like sitting in a train station, watching people walk by, catching snatches of conversations and being bored to death. May be I'm being harsh but that's what happens when I had to trudge through this book.
64. Alliances and the artifices of war https://meryton.com/aha/index.php?/to... 5 stars. I'm sorry to say I enjoyed this ridiculous story a bit too much. At first the writing style was disturbing not only because it was not period appropriate (not that I'm any kind of expert on that) but the narration was also somewhat stupid. But once I got used to both, the story was good and the idea was funny abd on the whole, very enjoyable.
65. Traveling by post https://dwiggie.com/derby/old_2004/ga... 4 stars. What if Elizabeth and Darcy didn't meet at Pemberley during the summer but during winter in a post coach to London? Why would Darcy be in a post coach, you ask? Well, his carriage broke down and he has urgent business that he can't miss and I don't care why because that was the most romantic carriage ride ever. Jane and Bingley are provided with a stronger backbone and the author manages this without altering their basic characteristics. Sweet story and most of all, no Wickham (because no elopement, Mr. Bennet also has stronger convictions), no Collins, no Lady Catherine and a very brief appearance by Caroline, which makes it sweeter.
66. Somebody's natural daughter https://dwiggie.com/derby/allisonom4.htm 4 stars. This was an interesting theme. Elizabeth is not only not a Bennet but she is a natural born daughter of someone unknown left as a ward of Mrs.Gardiner's mother with a small allowance and a dowry. She ends up at a school at Meryton and becomes friends with Jane and Charlotte. Then enters our Netherfield party and things get worse before becoming better. Elizabeth and Darcy's equation starts quite differently as she suspects him to be her brother (gasp!) based on some remark overheard during childhood. They do develop a tentative friendship which explodes when their true thoughts come out in the open. Interesting, isn't it? The only (quite a big) problem was that the story ends pretty abruptly leaving many loose ends (and a bombshell) dangling.
67. The Netherfield Masked ball https://dwiggie.com/derby/olde/meliss... 2.75 stars. This is a short story. What if Netherfield ball was a masked ball and that gave more courage to some people than usual? This felt like a middle chapter of a longer story and a hit OOC.
68. Pride, Prejudice, & Permutations: A Collection of Pride & Prejudice Variations https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7... 5 stars. A delightful collection of short stories.
69. Mistress https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... 3 stars. My march challenge read. The premise was interesting but slowed down during the second half of the book.
70. Real: A Pride and Prejudice Variation https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4... 5 stars. I love this author's stories. This is sort of a time travel story with a 21st century Elizabeth going to 19th century Darcy as his wife. How she slowly falls for him in spite of her hatred for the modern Darcy of her time. Though there were many modern language and references, it sort of fit the story's context, at least that's what I felt. Very light, happy read.

71. Obsession https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... 3 stars. This story had its moments but in general was slow and sedate. In lot of stories, I find the authors have penchant for describing unnecessary things like dresses, I understand a wedding dress or a ball dress or even something that dazzles the hero otherwise I don't see any point, or food, the same logic for this, and more importantly mundane conversations which have no much relevance to the flow of the story or even are sometimes repetitive. These things,I feel, slow down the tempo of the story, frustrating and eventually boring the reader. There are very few authors who write concisely and keeps you captivated and fewer who write long books and still manages the task. I hope I'm not starting a brand new controversy with this venting.
72. Obstacles: A Pride and Prejudice Variation https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4... 4.5 stars. This is our usual Pride and Prejudice set in a modern equestrian world going a bit beyond the reconciliation between Darcy and Elizabeth. The author has done a real good job fitting the story into the background seamlessly while maintaining the nature of the characters, especially Lydia ;-)
73. Banished: A Pride and Prejudice Variation https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5... 3 stars. This was an amusing book not because of the story but because of the excessive behaviours. When someone is bad, they're super bad and go to extreme ends of badness. When someone is good, everyone loves them, everyone stands up for them. When two potential couple meet, they fall in love within hours, courts for two days and gets engaged and marry in a week and live happily ever after. A very improbable story.

Caroline is very sweet and Georgiana is mini me of Lady Catherine, Anne is plump, Collins is sensible, Mary reads Gothic novels and thus this upside down world continues. But not everything is different, Elizabeth is smart, Wickham is a reprobate, Darcy is honorable, Mrs. Bennet is ridiculous and so on. The usuals and the unusuals are melded beautifully to form a very unique variation. I Strongly Recommend This to everyone who loves the ridiculous!!

This Darcy felt lifeless for most of the story except for one instance which actually came out of the blue and totally out of place. I liked the Elizabeth but she also didn't feel right. Was it considered appropriate at that time for single women to visit a man living alone and hug and kiss him even as a friend at that period? I'm not quite sure about that. There is a line between being daring enough to fight for your rights and flaunting society's rules just for the sake of it and I felt the story was dancing around it.

My only problem with the story was though Darcy talks often about it, propriety was tossed out the window very early in the story. Not just Darcy and Elizabeth but also Jane and Bingley are left to their own devices most of the time without any chaperone and they even manage to stay under the same roof that way. Another was, though not a complaint, Caroline and Louisa never make an appearance, even during their brother's marriage, not even a mention of them in the whole story, which was odd.

Jane's letter is a couple of days early and they leave Lambton without meeting Miss Darcy and Darcy decides to nurse his broken heart at the continent as he misunderstands Elizabeth's departure and the Bennets have no one to help till Elizabeth decides to avenge her family's spoilt reputation. Let me warn you there is some unpleasantness but it resolves quickly, so if you decide to read, be courageous and plod through it.

Elizabeth and Darcy meet as children when Darcy is hiding from Lady Catherine who's trying to kidnap him (?) and of course, our Lizzy rescues him. Thus she enters Pemberley and meets the Darcy family. But I don't understand why this makes Mr. Darcy decide on a six year old for his future daughter-in-law. Anyway, our 12 year old Darcy promises to visit Elizabeth after she turns 20 and he does. Though portions of the story felt a bit unbelievable, like why would Darcy have a congenial relationship with his aunt who kidnapped him as a child, it was enjoyable. The last few chapters dealing with the next generation actually felt like an extended epilogue.

The characters were shallow and immature and the story felt juvenile at best. The characters are authors in a writer's retreat but all they do are ogling, flirting, double and triple daring like they are in high school. I did read around 40% of the book but couldn't cook up enough curiosity to get to the end.
