I'm a play-reader myself, however, to fly in the face of your goal, I recently saw a book of essays I thought interesting enough to pick up. These Precious Days Essays by Ann Patchett . She's a good friend of one of my close friends from high school, too, so I tend to keep an eye on her. Are you familiar with this book?

Karen (readerkaren) | 143 comments I haven't read this book, but I want to. I love Ann Patchett's writing. Maybe I will have to read this book soon!

I read These Precious Days this year & enjoyed it. I just listened to a interview with her on the Libro.fm podcast. She's an interesting person and a good writer!

Karen (readerkaren) | 143 comments I feel like I have fallen behind and it is only the second week of January. I don't want to push myself too much, but I still do it.

Carolien (carolien_s) | 505 comments What I love about this challenge it that it really is just a place to keep of track what you read rather than a challenge. I just add as I get to things so don't really feel pressured for this one.

Karen (readerkaren) | 143 comments Carolien, I agree that this is a great place to keep track of what you read and it's a good motivator to read very specific types of genres. I just feel a little untethered, in general.

These Precious Days Essays by Ann Patchett. I really loved it. My heart skipped a beat though when Ann wrote about her friend Sooki having a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Two family members have passed away this year from this cancer, both within weeks of the diagnosis. The extra time that Sooki had was a gift beyond words and Ann seems like an amazing friend.
