〰️Beth〰️ (x1f4a0bethx1f4a0) | 286 comments How do classify books set in America between the 17th and 20th centuries? Do we use the British Georgian, Regency, Victorian? Is American West just for books dealing with westward expansion in the US. Also what about other countries not part of Britain?

Good question. Perhaps add a category, such as 18th Century under Georgian, 19th Century under Victorian, and so on. That should work with books that take place in non-European countries. I selected American West because so many US based historicals seem to be westerns.

Perhaps you can include a note as to where the book takes place.

(Sorry for the delay in answering. I was away over the holidays and missed seeing your question)

That is during the same time as Britain's Georgian era. It's considered to fall under the Colonial Era in America, so maybe just use "Georgian/Colonial" for the header in your post? :)
