In May/June of 2023 we will be reading literature from Hungary.

Titles for all three categories (classic, contemporary and short story/essay) can be nominated in this thread.

Feel free to discuss availability here as well, i.e. let us know beforehand if a nominated title is unavailable for you before we put up the polls. The polls will be set up in the middle of April.

I know it is still two months ahead, but I could not refrain from uploading the Rosie Goldsmith video in which she talks to Hungarian writer Zsófia Bán and Scottish writer A. L. Kennedy about the consequences of a rising nationalism on literature.
You find the video in the video section of our group (as usual).

For a contemporary novel, I nominate The Finno-Ugrian Vampire by Noémi Szécsi.

I second Noémi Szécsi!

I would like to nominate two further titles by Dezső Kosztolányi:

Jax | 57 comments The Door by Magda Szabó. It’s available on Amazon and various book resale websites.

Oops, this is a classic, I assume.

Sorry, I'm pretty late setting up the polls for our reads from Hungary - work got into my way :-/
But now the polls are up until May, 6th.

No worries!
This is all supposed to be for our relaxation and enjoyment ;-)
I'm also behind on commenting but postponed is not cancelled 😊
