Heena,
This one was alot of fun:
Have Space Suit—Will Travel by Robert A. Helnlein
YA science fiction written in 1958. Lots of action, great characters. Alot of fun, in a retro/futuristic way. This would probably make a great audiobook, too.

I would not have read this book if it weren't for the Title Link Challenge. (I needed a book with "miss" in the title.) The plot sounded a bit dull to me, but was I wrong about that. You will love Madame Pratolungo, the blind woman's hired companion and her greatest champion. She is French, fiesty, and not afraid to voice her own opinions on things. Great fun!

7. Miss Billy by Eleanor H. Porter
2 stars
This was a rom-com where the conflict was based on an easily cleared up misunderstanding. (Not my favorite plot theme.)

It's a year-long challenge, so you have plenty of time. I got lucky in finding books that fit multiple challenges.

Dagny,
I’ll have to give House of Mirth a try.
I know what you mean about changing your mind about a book upon re-reading it. That has happened to me before, especially if I initially read the book in my teens or early twenties. I think we grow as we age and end up seeing characters and plots in a different light then. I think that also explains some 4 and 5 star ratings of books on Goodreads. Younger readers might love what older readers don’t.

Another one for my list! I haven't read anything by her in ages and I seem to recall that she was quite prolific. “

Liz,
Yes, pretty much anything goes. It doesn't have to be Literature or anything like that to count, but there are alot of famous older books that would fit the challenge. Try looking in this genre shelf for some ideas:

20. A Dead Reckoning by T. W. Speight
4 stars. A fun Sensation Novel that was only nineteen chapters.
