All questions about specific tasks and also general discussion. We will be adding some lists for books that could fit some of the harder to find tasks and updating it when people make suggestions. Feel free to give suggestions on books you think would fit someone’s needs for a task.

I was asked about the 15 point tasks: Can I read the same book I did for that challenge. The answer is yes, but it must be reread during this challenge.

Two questions:
1. For 5.6, how large a part of the story does the sport need to be? In the book I'm reading (which I started as part of the Spring Cleaning task) one of the characters plays a sport but it's very minor
2. On the 20.2, task, do we need to choose two DIFFERENT item? I'm thinking of reading Splintered and its sequel for the Alice in Wonderland option. Would that be ok?

For 5.6, I think anything really goes. Not a huge part, just as long as it is mentioned, or maybe part of a game/match/whatever. Use your own judgement.
On 20.2, I will let Mickslibrarian answer that one.

I'm assuming lacrosse is pretty mainstream in the US? (it's not where I live)

Daisy, by mainstream here I was thinking Baseball, Basketball and Football, Maybe Soccer. I wasn't sure about sports other places. I know our high schools have teams for Lacrosse, Rugby, Volleyball, Wrestling, and more, but I wouldn't consider them to mainstream. I guess if there is a huge multi-billion dollar league of professional athletes playing it were you are from, that would classify it as being mainstream.

Clarified! Just for an FYI on this task, I just finished reading A Spool of Blue Thread and it was published by Knopf. It was a good book, not my normal read, a journey through a families life and children having to deal with aging parents.

I have a question about 20.2.
My edition of "Alice in Wonderland" only has 115 pages, is it okay to read it for 20.2 or does it not count because it's shorter than 150 pages?

Question about 25.4 birth order... I am an only child so do I read a stand alone book and the first book in a series?

I have a question about Task 10.3 April Showers bring May Flowers: Read a book about blossoming love or with a flower on the cover.

I just wondered if "The Secret Garden" by Frances Hodgson Burnett would count for this, since it's not exactly about a budding romance since the characters are children, but it has everything to do with spring and flowers and there are "flowers" on the cover of my edition, but I wanted to be sure if it goes along with what was intended for this task.

I will defer to Tami on this one - my personal feeling is if the other book is somewhat substantial, it should be fine, but Tami can have final say

book 1 would be written by an author that shares your birth month.
book 2 would be either book 1 of a series or a book that is the authors first book written.

For 25.3 Mother's Day and Father's Day I was hoping to use the Locke and Key Series by Joe Hill. I was mainly wondering if the mother/father had to be the main story line or if it could be a side plot? The series begins with the father's death and throughout the series the kids attempt to figure out the father's past. Concurrently the Mother is struggling with a drinking problem after her husbands death and the kids have to help her through it while struggling with the other problems of the books. Since both themes are wound through the series I was going to split the 6 Volumes up into 1-3 and 4-6 to count as the mother and father respectively because each volume is right at 150ish pages so I thought that would be fair.

I know that was a complicated explanation but let me know if that will work.

That sounds like it would work to me.

Can I use Barn av sin stad for the 10.1 task? In the description it says that you can use a novel that takes places on an island. "Barn av sin stad" takes place on Södermalm, a district in Stockholm, the capitol of Sweden. Södermalm is technically an island (think Manhattan), but I don't think that is the kind of island that was intended.

Is there any assistance needed for keeping points updated? If so, let me know how I can help.
