Buzz Park (buzzpark) | 394 comments The version of EoM that I read was the four-novel omnibus Elric of Melniboné. The titles included are apparently added by chronological order as opposed to published order:
Elric of Melniboné,
The Fortress of the Pearl,
The Sailor on the Seas of Fate,

and The Weird of the White Wolf

I finished all four and liked each successive novel less and less. I liked the fourth one (Wolf) the least in context with the other three because of what I thought was a radical character change on the part of Elric.

However, I know other readers had a very different response. I'd love to hear the reactions of others who finished all four novels... what did you think?

Stephen Richter (stephenofskytrain) | 1638 comments I read the first three, thankful they are short. Which is about all I remember as I read these in 2015. I have been told that Hawkmoon is the Michael Moorcock series to read. Been waiting for a Kindle Daily Deal to have it on sale.

Phil On The Hill (philonthehillexon) | 263 comments My first Elric read was Stormbringer, the last chronologically. I was 13. I love the character and the books. The year was 1976 and there was little other fantasy out there. Moorcock's work was unquestionably unique at that time. These books will always be some of my favourites I am sorry and understand why others do not like them today, but they are part of the bedrock from which modern fantasy continues to rise.

Buzz Park (buzzpark) | 394 comments I think we often have a fondness for the books we read in our youth. I loved the Conan the Barbarian books by Robert E Howard when I was a kid, but I'd guess they don't hold up so well these days lol.
