GA (garussell) | 349 comments Once again this year I will strive to achieve the great honor of being acclaimed by the publishing industry as an "avid" reader.

So my goal will again be to read 12 books, because that's all the publishing industry expects of me.

GA (garussell) | 349 comments I see that on March 9 I reached my goal of 12 books.

Now on to the realistic goal of 24 books.

GA (garussell) | 349 comments OK, I have reached 24. I've been on a tear this month.

Now we'll see how long it takes me to get to 36.

message 10: by GA (new)

GA (garussell) | 349 comments I finished #37 last night, so now it is on to 48.

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments That's awesome! I like that you're tallying in sets of 12. :D

GA (garussell) | 349 comments I'm up to 48 tonight.

I've dropped a couple in the middle. Maybe I'll go back and pick them up.

HomeInMyShoes | 2759 comments Nice.

Apparently Goodreads thinks I haven't read much of the discussions. Even posts I made at the beginning of the year are showing up as "New"!

So, so helpful.

Thanks, Homey!

I picked up one book I had put aside, and quickly remembered why!

message 16: by GA (new)

GA (garussell) | 349 comments I made it up to 52 last Friday. I suppose that is most people's subconscious standard.

No heavy lifting this year. Maybe next year I'll try some Russian literature!

message 17: by Nyssa, Series Addict (new)

Nyssa | 1569 comments 52 is an excellent number - a book a week.
When you say, “no heavy lifting” do you mean that you felt unchallenged this year?

Thanks, Nyssa!

I am up to 54 now; and going over the list, I see that only five might be considered challenging. My books were mostly popular detective stories and sports books. The challenging books were theological.

message 19: by GA (new)

GA (garussell) | 349 comments And so I finished the year with 57.

Next year, fewer books, but better!
