Nancy Brady (minesayn) | 202 comments In 2023, I am hoping to decrease the number of books I have on my shelves (both physical books and e-books) as of 12/31/22. Best estimate is about 1500 books, mostly e-books, with a hope to read 2 owned for every 1 library book (the local library is a block and a half from my home). I also wish to read at least 100 books.

Good luck on your reading goals, Nan!

I used to live a block and a half from a branch of the library, so I know exactly how tempting it is.

I enjoy going to used book stores. You never know what you're going to find.

That's true, Rosemarie. I deal with all the donations for our local Friends of the Library's Book Nook. I stock the shelves, and every so often, find a book I want. I generally don't buy it outright because I don't feel it is fair to others so I put it on the shelves and wait a couple of weeks. If it is sold, great (it is all for the library's projects and programs after all). If not, I might buy it. Since I am trying to get my shelves at home emptied, I try to be strong and resist the temptation.

You've had a good reading year, Nancy!

message 19: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Brady (minesayn) | 202 comments Thanks Rosemarie. I think I could have read more if I hadn't been working, albeit part-time, for the local Board of Elections. Ohio had 4, count 'em 4, elections in 2023. For an off-year election, that is quite a number. For me, it meant working about 2 months for every election.

On the other hand, I reduced the number of books on my shelves despite getting some in return.

That's an awful lot of elections!
