Evan’s observation skills are off the charts and each day he takes stock of his surroundings and security. Early on, he deduced that he was somewhere in Switzerland but he was actually still in the US. Did his captors deliberately set it up to this level of detail to trick him?

It was a ploy by Rene to keep him off balance. He knew that Evan would try to escape and Evan would make a different plan if he knew he was still in the US.

They were definitely trying to make him believe that he was in Switzerland. Who would even think about such details as the type of electrical outlets he'd find in the rooms?

Having lived in England for five years, I certainly would have thought the same kind of thing that Evan did. But he did, eventually, tear out those fake outlets and discover that they were planted for his "benefit."

Yes, I think they did this on purpose ~ really for whomever they grabbed. Makes it seem hopeless to get away/home when you're in another country ~ so you'll give them what they want and won't put up a fuss.


Granted - they had no idea that they grabbed the wrong kind of guy, lol
